One dawn in September, a 34-year-old woman, Ms. Min, was found dead in the master bedroom of her home. Ms. Min, who had been suffering from a long-term illness, had seen her condition deteriorate rapidly in recent months. However, strange rumors began to circulate regarding her death. It was said that Ms. Min died because she was cursed by someone. Furthermore, there was another woman living under the same roof as her husband, the sole heir of a prestigious family.

Even before marrying Ms. Min, the husband had a mistress, Ms. Jang. The person who suggested bringing back Ms. Jang, who had been driven away due to the opposition of family elders, was none other than Ms. Min herself. This was because she was worried about the family lineage as no children had been born for a long time. Upon her return, Ms. Jang completely captured the husband's heart with her outstanding beauty and even seized control of the household after giving birth to a son.

Ultimately, Ms. Min was driven out of the house, and Ms. Jang's son rose to the position of official heir. The protagonists of this incident are Queen Inhyeon, Jang Hui-bin, and Royal Noble Consort Suk of the Choe clan during the reign of King Sukjong in Joseon. ‘KCSI Smoking Gun’ reconstructs the tragedy of these three women that occurred in the palace 300 years ago as if it were a modern-day incident to take a fresh look. It will closely examine whether the curse that supposedly drove Queen Inhyeon to her death actually had any substance.

Upon hearing the story, Ahn Hyun-mo was shocked, saying, "King Sukjong was a cold-hearted politician." Lee Ji-hye expressed her sorrow, saying, "Queen Inhyeon's life is so pitiful," and added, "It might not have been love to King Sukjong, but it seems it would have been true love to the three women."
