Actor Kwon Hae-hyo shared the recent status of director Hong Sang-soo.
On the 10th, an outdoor stage greeting for 'Nowhere to Look', an invited work in the Icon section of the 31st BIFF, was held at the Roof Theater at the Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae-gu, Busan.
Kwon Hae-hyo and Park Mi-so attended the scene, while director Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee did not appear.
Recalling his experience of working with director Hong Sang-soo for about 15 years, Kwon Hae-hyo said, "Over the span of 15 years, I have seen him gradually changing from a man who loved and liked a certain woman into someone's father."
He also expressed respect for director Hong Sang-soo's cinematic world. Mentioning that director Hong Sang-soo, who debuted with the film 'The Day a Pig Fell into the Well' in 1996, marks his 30th anniversary of debut this year, he stated, "He has not feared defeat and has completed different works every year, every moment. I believe I am enjoying the honor of working with a great director of this era."
Director Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee officially acknowledged their romantic relationship at the press preview for the film 'On the Beach at Night Alone' in 2017. Since then, the two have continued their relationship by attending domestic and international film festivals together, and Kim Min-hee gave birth to a son last April. Director Hong Sang-soo's 35th feature film 'Nowhere to Look' tells the story of Sang-hui, the daughter of a divorced family, who heads to Jeju Island to find her mother whom she last met 10 years ago. Director Hong Sang-soo was in charge of directing, screenwriting, cinematography, recording, editing, and music, while Kim Min-hee participated as the lead actress and production manager. The film will be released domestically on the 21st.
