Q. You have moved from ‘Rookie Coach’ to ‘Experienced Coach.’ How has your mindset for starting MBC ‘Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung 2’ changed compared to last season? Last year, I think it took a bit more time than expected for the players to understand and adapt to the tactics I devised to create the games the team wanted. In a sense, it felt like a slow start, but this year, we supplemented those parts and started with more intensity and a tighter schedule. I think I prepared and trained harder with the mindset that I must help the players adapt quickly.

Q. What was the biggest thing you learned as a coach through Season 1? And what is the changed ‘Kim Yeon-koung style coaching method’ in Season 2? While doing Season 1, I learned a lot about how truly important it is to maximize the strengths of each individual player. Ultimately, the team's overall ability rises only when individual capabilities are alive. So in Season 2, I focused more on identifying the players' abilities in more detail and maximizing their respective capabilities to melt them well into the team system. During my long career as a player, I met various leaders in different teams. In that process, I tried to take the good points or parts that were actually very helpful to me as a player and incorporate them into my coaching in my own way. In Season 2, I tried to convey those parts to the players more clearly.

Q. What was the most important criterion when forming the Season 2 ‘Victory Wonder Dogs’? We are also curious about what you expect from the newly joined players. As I mentioned before, while I certainly looked at individual player abilities, I think I thought more about how much the overall capability can be raised when forming a single team. After all, it is important to melt the players into one team system. I also considered the combination and synergy between players a lot. I had high expectations for how well the newly joined players would coordinate and what new plays they would show within that. This team composition will also be able to show different strengths from the previous season.

Q. The final goal for this season is the ‘founding of the 8th professional club.’ What does ‘proving the potential as a professional team’ mean to Coach Kim Yeon-koung? To me, the potential of a professional team isn't just about winning against professional teams a few times. We must prove that our prepared system and play work even against professional teams by showing it within the match, thereby proving that the players have competitiveness even on the professional stage. I think the most important thing is to show the completeness as a team and give viewers the conviction that ‘if this team becomes a professional club, it will have sufficient competitiveness and value.’

Q. Please tell us which points you want viewers to watch closely in Season 2 and a word for the viewers cheering for the ‘Victory Wonder Dogs.’ I hope you watch the process of various players coming together to form one team. While there was individual growth, I think this is a season where the growth as a team is even more visible. Especially this season, the opponents were not easy at all. I hope you enjoy watching how the ‘Victory Wonder Dogs’ overcome the process of preparing for and clashing with good teams.
