In the SBS Friday variety show 'My Genie Secretary' (hereafter 'My Genie Secretary'), which airs on the 2nd, the Gen Z group RESCENE is shown suffering from an extreme generation gap upon meeting the 'uncle-level' secretaries.
On this day, RESCENE, who have been causing a syndrome and gathering attention daily, appear as 'my stars' on 'My Genie Secretary.' The meeting between the secretaries, with an average age of 56.5, and RESCENE, aged 20.6, revealed a generation gap from the very start. In particular, laughter is expected to be added as RESCENE breaks a sweat by stepping in to explain things one by one to the secretaries, who are repeatedly 'illiterate' in 'modern culture.'
Specifically, upon hearing the representative catchphrase that promoted RESCENE, "Geoje Yahoo~," Lee Seo-jin and Kim Kwang-kyu fall into confusion from the start, asking, "Is that the 'Yahoo' you shout in the mountains?" because they cannot understand the meaning at all. It is said that the stark temperature difference between the two generations, who continue entirely different conversations over the same 'Yahoo,' caused laughter on set.
A crisis arrives for Lee Seo-jin, who has reborn as a 'professional orderer' by handling the meal orders of numerous 'my stars' in the past. It is the challenge of tackling Malatang, a representative menu of the Gen Z generation. Upon receiving the list of ingredients written by RESCENE, Lee Seo-jin cannot hide his embarrassment, repeatedly asking questions like, “What is Bunmoja? Is it a hat?” whenever an unfamiliar name appears. Curiosity is aroused as to whether Lee Seo-jin, rendered helpless by the unfamiliar 'modern food culture,' will be able to complete the order successfully.
Additionally, the secretaries will have their first encounter with 'Wakppu Ball,' which is gaining popularity among the Gen Z generation. Upon encountering Malrang-i for the first time, Lee Seo-jin shows a reaction of total incomprehension, saying, “Why is this trendy? I'd rather just eat a whole chicken.” As the secretaries show disgust at the unfamiliar texture, expectations are high as the youngest member, MEI, reportedly stepped up as a one-day teacher to provide 'one-on-one Malrang-i tutoring.'
From catchphrases to food and play culture, the secretaries and RESCENE are too different. Will the two generations be able to overcome the age gap and achieve perfect harmony in service? You can find out on SBS's 'My Genie Secretary,' which will air on Friday the 2nd at an earlier time of 10:30 PM due to a special extended programming.
