Sook Haeng's 30 million won compensation finalized; 2025 dating judgment remains unchanged
Trot singer Sook Haeng has been ordered to pay 30 million won in damages following a lawsuit filed by a woman regarding an affair with her husband. The court ruled that Sook Haeng engaged in misconduct by dating and living with the husband, rejecting her claim that she was deceived.
According to media reports, trot singer Sook Haeng received a ruling to pay 30 million won in the first instance of a lawsuit for alimony filed by a woman involved in an affair, and the ruling was finalized on the 3rd as no appeal was made.
The Civil Division 7 of the Seongnam Branch of Suwon District Court ruled partially in favor of the plaintiff in the lawsuit filed by Ms. A against Sook Haeng on the 17th of last month. The court viewed that Sook Haeng engaged in misconduct, such as dating and living together with Ms. A's husband starting from January 2025.
The court ordered the payment of 30 million won in alimony for the mental damage suffered by Ms. A, as well as delayed interest. Sook Haeng's side argued that she dated him after being deceived by Ms. A's husband, but this was not accepted.
The written judgment also included the determination that there was no evidence to recognize that the marital relationship was already in a state of breakdown or that the husband had deceived Sook Haeng. Previously, Sook Haeng was embroiled in allegations surrounding her relationship with the husband of Ms. A, a woman in her 40s with two children, last December.
Ms. A claimed through a broadcast that after her husband had an affair with Sook Haeng, he left the house to live with her. Sook Haeng took the position that she was also a victim and provided an explanation regarding the termination of the relationship, but the court's judgment was different.
