The film 'The Assassin(s)' continues to face controversy even after surpassing 2 million cumulative viewers.

Released on the 23rd of last month, this work is a feature film that takes the shooting incident of Yuk Young-soo on August 15, 1974, as its motif, starting from mysteries regarding the scene and riddles related to shell casings at the time.

While it constructs a new narrative by adding fictional hypotheses to the historical event, which was concluded as the solo crime of Moon Se-gwang, the setting implying the possibility of involvement by power institutions in the film has drawn backlash from political circles and civic groups.

The production team has explained, "This is not a work made to newly define a specific historical conclusion or to distort existing facts," adding, "It is merely a device for dramatic fun and there is no intention to conclude a specific mastermind."

As the cumulative audience surpassed 2 million people as of 2:35 PM on this day (3rd), the 'Original Ticket' provided by Megabox on a first-come, first-served basis since the 23rd of last month has also become the center of a new controversy. The goods in question consist of a main body modeled after the structure of the National Liberation Day of Korea memorial ceremony venue on August 15, 1974, and a transparent plate shaped like bullet hole marks; when the two sheets are overlapped, four bullet marks are designed to overlap with the podium of then-President Park Chung-hee, the seat of Yuk Young-soo, and the general audience seats.

Regarding this, reactions on SNS included, "How is this different from Tank Day?", "This crossed the line," and "A design that could not be released unless one was crazy."
