Hangeul Day Special - Children's Hangeul Champion Contest Part 2 (Finals)

After an intense battle between the final 4... 'Children's Hangeul Champion' is born!

Broadcast: Monday, October 12, 2026, at 7:40 PM on KBS 1TV

The shining challenge of children who love the Korean language, the 'Children's Hangeul Champion' finals!

After passing two preliminary rounds in July and August, 8 challengers engaged in a fierce main competition. Among them, two teams that took 1st and 2nd place, totaling 4 individuals, have advanced to the finals. Attention is focused on which of the 4 finalists will be crowned the 'Children's Hangeul Champion'.

Immense benefits given to the Children's Hangeul Champion

Special benefits await the challengers who have reached the finals. The final winner, the 'Children's Hangeul Champion', will not only receive a prize of 3 million won but also the honor of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award. In this 'Children's Hangeul Champion Contest', special awards are given not only to the winner but also to the runner-up. The runner-up will receive the Sejong Special Self-Governing City Mayor Award along with a prize of 1 million won.

A special guest for the nervous challengers!

Following the main competition, a special guest appears for the challengers in the finals as well. Master Kim Bong-gon from Cheonghak-dong, who embraced the challengers with warm encouragement during the main competition, has returned once again.

On this final stage, he will act as a reliable supporter for the challengers, providing clues in the face of difficult questions, while adding vitality to the competition with sharp advice and witty remarks. Viewers can check on the broadcast to see which person he has noticed enough to want to personally invite to Cheonghak-dong.

There is a wish to achieve for the competition! 6th grader Kim Seo-yun. As the oldest among the four finalists, Kim Seo-yun shows a strong will toward winning with more confidence than anyone else. Behind that passion for winning lies a cute and special goal. It is to fulfill the promise made to her parents, who agreed to let her raise a puppy when she becomes an adult, by becoming the Hangeul Champion. Driven by her earnest heart for her new family member, challenger Kim Seo-yun continues her fearless challenge. Attention is focused on whether Kim Seo-yun, who added tension through a back-and-forth fierce competition, can achieve both the honor of Hangeul Champion and her wish.

An endless challenge for her grandmother! 5th grader An Yun-su

Following the main competition, challenger An Yun-su, a devoted grandchild, continues to express her affection for her grandmother, who has taken care of her since she was two years old instead of her working parents. Expressing gratitude by saying this challenge also started at her grandmother's suggestion, An Yun-su revealed a special wish to gift her grandmother good joint medicine with the 1st place prize money.

Meanwhile, another field An Yun-su is as interested in as filial piety is, is 'Korean History'. Based on her deep interest in our country's history, she also showed her capability by scoring 100 points on the Korean History Proficiency Test. Curiosity arises as to whether An Yun-su, who possesses proficiency in the Korean language, Korean history, and filial piety, can also master being the Children's Hangeul Champion.

I will properly show the spirit of the youngest! 4th grader Shin I-do

The only 4th grader among the four finalists is Shin I-do. While making everyone smile with her cute side as the youngest, she emerged as the number one target of scrutiny from other challengers due to her more confident competitive spirit and sharp Korean language skills than anyone else. She added another layer of tension to the final stage by proudly displaying her skills among the older students without being intimidated. The youngest challenger, whose name 'I-do' itself carries good energy like King Sejong, stimulates curiosity as to whether she can continue her majestic momentum and take the seat of Children's Hangeul Champion.

When it comes to persistence, it's me, I challenge until I succeed! 6th grader

Challenger Oh Won-jun, who has been challenging for the Children's Hangeul Champion title for the 4th time since 2023. As she is facing her elementary school graduation, there is no more room to retreat. Having had to give up the title of Hangeul Champion so narrowly every time, she expressed her ambition to finally reach the top this time and put a period to her long challenge.

Supported by her grandfather, who rushed all the way from Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, upon hearing the news of his granddaughter's advancement to the finals, interest is gathering on whether Oh Won-jun can seize the honor of Children's Hangeul Champion with the skills she has steadily built up.

Korean Language Contest, where a Children's Hangeul Champion is finally born after a fierce battle without a single inch of concession. The Hangeul Day Special, 'Children's Hangeul Champion Contest' Part 2, can be watched on Monday, October 12, at 7:40 PM on KBS 1TV.
