"Faceless Devil" - Nationwide Serial Rape Cases

Brutal crimes committed next to a child... The 5-year pursuit of the nationwide serial rapist 'Faceless Devil' Mr. Park

Broadcast: Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 9:50 PM on KBS 2TV

On the afternoon of November 2, 2005, an urgent report came into the Icheon Police Station in Gyeonggi Province: “I’ve just been robbed. Please come quickly.” The victim was a 42-year-old woman raising a child just over a year old. The perpetrator, posing as an ordinary neighbor by claiming “it seems like there is a leak in the unit below,” entered the house and suddenly brandished a weapon once only the victim and the child remained.

Not content with stealing valuables, the man committed a horrific crime while the child was right beside them. However, after the perpetrator fled, what the victim handed to the police with trembling hands was unexpectedly the perpetrator's mobile phone. The victim had used her wits to hide the mobile phone that the perpetrator had dropped on the floor during the crime. Could this mobile phone, which appeared to be a perfect ‘smoking gun,’ truly become the decisive clue to catch the criminal?

The identity of the perpetrator indicated by the mobile phone was Mr. Park, a man in his 40s. However, while checking Mr. Park's identity, the investigation team discovered an unexpected fact. Mr. Park had already been involved in several similar cases and was wanted in other regions. Furthermore, as they examined the cases one by one, chilling commonalities were discovered in the methods of the crimes.

To prevent further victims, the investigation team immediately began chasing Mr. Park. However, Mr. Park was an individual skilled in fleeing. Not only did he avoid staying in one place for long, but he would vanish like a ghost if he sensed even the slightest suspicion. Although they knew his name and face, his actual presence was difficult to grasp. The broadcast will reveal whether the investigation team could finally catch the elusive Mr. Park.

Ahn Hyun-mo could not hide her shock at the horrific crime, saying, “The children must have seen and heard the entire scene of the crime.” Additionally, Lee Ji-hye expressed amazement at Mr. Park's flight, which was meticulously calculated to evade the investigation net, stating, “The more I hear, the more he seems like a truly meticulous criminal.”

Meanwhile, in this broadcast, Shin Gyeong-cheol, the leader of the 3rd Detective Team at Yeoju Police Station who directly investigated the case, will appear to vividly convey the persistent pursuit spanning a full five years. He reminisces, “I could not let go of the case for even a single moment because of the thought that if I let the perpetrator escape, another victim could be created.” Furthermore, psychiatrist Lee Gwang-min analyzes the psychology behind why Mr. Park repeated such brutal crimes, from his unfortunate upbringing to his desire to dominate and control victims.

Lawyer Yoo Jae-seung will review the details of Mr. Park's sentencing, raising the question of whether the punishment handed down to the heinous criminal who left numerous victims was appropriate, and plastic surgeon Lee Yoo-jung will medically examine the changes in Mr. Park's appearance, analyzing how the change in his impression affected his long-term flight.

A serial sex offender who knocked on doors with the face of an ordinary neighbor and repeated horrific crimes while traveling across the country. The 'Faceless Devil' will be broadcast on Tuesday, October 13, at 9:50 PM on KBS2 〈KCSI Smoking Gun〉.
