MBC ‘Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung 2’ (directed by Kwon Rak-hui, Choi Yun-yeong, Lee Jae-woo, Oh Ye-na, Yoon Dong-uk, Cho Ye-eun) will premiere on Sunday, October 11 at 9:10 PM. PD Kwon Rak-hui, who depicted the intense challenge of ‘Rookie Coach’ Kim Yeon-koung and ‘Victory Wonder Dogs’ last season, sets an even larger goal in Season 2: founding the 8th professional club, capturing the process of the Victory Wonder Dogs proving their potential as a professional team.

MBC ‘Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung 2’ captures the process of Coach Kim Yeon-koung and the ‘Victory Wonder Dogs’ proving their potential as a professional team. Through matches against even stronger opponents, the production team plans to draw out the raw challenging instincts of Coach Kim Yeon-koung and the players, conveying the burning sincerity contained within to the viewers.

PD Kwon Rak-hui stated, “As we set the goal of founding the 8th professional club, I thought this is a season where we must prove whether the Victory Wonder Dogs can become a professional team,” and added, “So, I raised the match difficulty to the maximum.” She continued with confidence, “There were many more dramatic matches than in Season 1. Unpredictable great matches continued to the point where even the production team wondered, ‘How could only these kinds of matches happen?’”

Q. You have returned for Season 2 following Season 1. What was the main focus while preparing for this season, and what story did you want to show through MBC ‘Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung 2’? Since we set the goal of founding the 8th professional club, I thought this is a season where we must prove whether the Victory Wonder Dogs can become a professional team. Therefore, I raised the match difficulty to the maximum. I wanted to draw out the raw challenging instincts of the coach and players facing a massive challenge, and I hope the burning sincerity felt in that process is conveyed.

Q. Expectations for Season 2 have risen due to the success of Season 1. From the production team's perspective, what was the biggest concern or pressure while preparing for Season 2, and how did you try to resolve it? The biggest concern was that, realistically, there are not many volleyball teams that can be opponents. I felt that it would not be easy to continue writing another story, and eventually, I reached the conclusion that the direction for founding the 8th professional club must be established this season. Therefore, we drew a line in the sand, stating that if an owner does not appear by the end of the broadcast, we truly will not produce the next season.

Q. You are working with Coach Kim Yeon-koung again, who has returned from ‘Rookie Coach’ to ‘Experienced Coach.’ What was the biggest change in Coach Kim Yeon-koung that the production team felt on set? She is still sincere toward the players, and she participated in filming with her raw, intense self, without being conscious of the broadcast. It seems she vowed to get angry a little less and show a peaceful and soft side, but that vow doesn't seem to have been as effective as expected.

Q. In Season 2, an even larger goal of ‘founding the 8th professional club’ has been set. I am curious about the background of setting such a goal and what kind of story you wanted to show through this. Founding the 8th professional club was actually a goal we held since Season 1. At first, we thought it would be a distant story, but after doing Season 1, we thought it might not be as distant as expected. We judged that if a direction is not established this season, it would be difficult to continue depicting other challenges in the future.

Q. The first broadcast is approaching this October. Without giving spoilers, please provide the production team's key viewing points for MBC ‘Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung 2’ and words you want to convey to the viewers. I described Season 1 as dramatic, but Season 2 has many more dramatic matches than Season 1. Unpredictable great matches continued to the point where even we wondered, ‘How could only these kinds of matches happen?’ This is a season where the coach, the players, and even our production team all poured in their sincerity. I would be truly grateful if the viewers could recognize that heart, and I would be more than grateful if you continue to send warm encouragement in the future.

Meanwhile, MBC ‘Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung 2’, which captures the intense team narrative of ‘Experienced Coach’ Kim Yeon-koung and the ‘Victory Wonder Dogs’ unfolding amidst unscripted matches, was produced with the support of the Broadcasting, Media and Communications Commission and the KCA, and will premiere on Sunday, October 11 at 9:10 PM.
