NCT WISH to comeback in 6 months with ‘I SPY’… Emotional changes captured in 6 songs

NCT WISH will release their fourth mini album ‘I SPY’ on the 12th at 6 PM. This is their new release coming approximately 6 months after they released their 1st full-length album ‘Ode to Love’ last April. It contains a total of 6 songs, including the title track of the same name, and the album teaser expresses two concepts: a boy clumsy with his first encounter with love, and a boy who realizes his emotions are love. ‘Confused Boy’ and ‘Lover Boy’ facing love as something unfamiliar

The teaser images released by NCT WISH consist of two personas, ‘Confused Boy’ and ‘Lover Boy’. ‘Confused Boy’ expresses a boy clumsy in the face of his first love, while ‘Lover Boy’ expresses a boy who realizes that the unfamiliar emotion he felt for the first time is love. Through absurd and unrealistic situations occurring to the members, the album portrays the overwhelming and diverse emotions felt when falling in love. This setting unfolds with the unique playful imagination of NCT WISH.

According to the comeback announcement, the teaser video features a new digital world, ‘WISH LAND’, as the background. The video also includes content about facing one's emotions while reconnecting with the suddenly disappeared ‘energy’. While the teaser images presented two sides of a boy learning about love for the first time, the trailer places the scenes where those emotions begin and continue within a digital space.

The album title and the narrative presented in the teaser align with the content of the title track. ‘I SPY’ is a song that captures the heart where all senses are directed toward a person the moment one falls for them. Hybrid dance pop title track and the composition of six songs

The title track of the same name, ‘I SPY’, is a hybrid dance pop genre. It sings about the heart where gaze and senses concentrate on a person the moment one falls for them, and the performance captures the active image of NCT WISH having experienced and grown through love. It includes point choreography reminiscent of a telescope, and the mood of the song transitions through choreography with a heavy hip-hop rhythm. The B-side track ‘Hubble Time’ involved hitmaker KENZIE in the lyric writing. ‘UPGRADE’ was introduced as an electronic-based uptempo song that inherits the theme of the game world from the B-side track ‘Videohood’ of the 3rd mini album. The three songs differ in their connection points to the lyricist, the original sampled song, and the theme of the previous album. The song composition of the 4th mini album includes dance pop, R&B ballad, and electronic-based uptempo songs. A story of B-side tracks continuing from ‘WICHU’ to ‘Voyage’

The B-side tracks of NCT WISH's previous albums have captured changes in emotion. The B-side track ‘WICHU’ from the 3rd mini album contained a story of overcoming fear through someone's love and trust. Subsequently, the B-side track ‘Voyage’ from the 1st full-length album continued with the content of accepting even fear as a precious emotion and finding self-consolation. It is reported that the 4th mini album also includes B-side tracks that can be enjoyed in a continuous flow with the previous albums.

In the teaser and title track introduction of the new album, the emotions of a person facing love for the first time are placed at the center. ‘Confused Boy’ refers to the clumsy appearance of love, and ‘Lover Boy’ refers to the appearance of recognizing the true nature of the unfamiliar emotion as love. Ahead of the comeback, NCT WISH successively took the stages of Hanyang University ERICA Campus and Kyung Hee University Global Campus on the 29th of last month, and Dongguk University festival on the 30th. At these three stages, they showcased representative songs such as ‘Hands Up’, ‘Make You Shine’, ‘poppop’, ‘Ode to Love’, and ‘Sticky’, and also made a surprise reveal of part of the choreography for the title track ‘I SPY’. There are also achievements revealed ahead of the album release. NCT WISH recorded three consecutive million-sellers with their 1st full-length album ‘Ode to Love’. Reports stated that the 1st full-length album released this year achieved its own highest performance in both physical albums and digital music. The Japanese single ‘YO-I-DON! / BOY MEETS GIRL’ released last July exceeded 500,000 cumulative shipments and received double platinum certification from the RIAJ. The records confirmed in the domestic full-length album and the Japanese single were announced with different figures, and the 4th mini album ‘I SPY’ is the new album released following these achievements.
