Following the permanent exhibition "Eight Brilliant Colors: Regions Full of K" which opened last June, the Agency is presenting the special exhibition "Islands, Fields and Mountains Rise" at Cheongwadae Sarangchae, which highlights the cultural roots of three special self-governing provinces: Jeju, Jeonbuk, and Gangwon. The special exhibition, which began with the Jeju special exhibition on September 16, will additionally present Jeonbuk content on October 14 and Gangwon content on November 11.

Based on the question, "Where did the regional identity begin?", this special exhibition uses various media to provide a multi-dimensional look at how topography and ecological environments, such as islands, fields, and mountains, have influenced the lives and culture of local residents. Additionally, the first floor of Cheongwadae Sarangchae has been newly renovated to allow visitors to experience the wisdom of regions that have cultivated unique cultures while adapting to nature, providing a space for relaxation.

'Eight Brilliant Colors K-Culture Run' combining running and regional culture experiences

From October to December, the Agency will operate various linked programs that go beyond merely viewing the regional lives and cultural resources introduced in the exhibition, allowing people to experience them directly through performances and activities.

First, it will hold the participatory program 'Eight Brilliant Colors K-Culture Run', which combines running with regional culture experiences. Designed so that participants can enjoy diverse regional cultural resources in connection with a running experience, participants can vividly experience the unique cultural values of each region by performing missions and experiential activities. In particular, efforts were made to minimize citizen inconvenience and ensure participant safety by organizing small teams and using staggered departures so that urban running can be enjoyed safely. This event, which involves 100 participants (50 per session) recruited in advance through Instagram, will take place around Cheongwadae Sarangchae from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on October 10 (Sat) and October 17 (Sat).

Regular 'Culture Wednesday' performances every week and special weekend performances... stages centered on regional artists

During the exhibition period, regular 'Culture Wednesday' performances will be held every Wednesday at 12:10 PM, and special planned performances will take place every other Saturday. The second half of the year's performances consist of regional artists directly recommended by metropolitan cultural foundations and cultural cities nationwide, allowing visitors to vividly encounter the unique cultures of each region.

On Wednesday, October 21, Jeonbuk's 'Salon de Seonyulmori' will present creative songs using the Jeonbuk dialect, and on Wednesday, October 28, Ulsan's 'Lee Seon-suk Pansori Institute' will present the Ulsan folk tale 'Song of Cheoyong' through pansori. On November 25 (Wed), Dongrae Hakchum (dance) and B-boying, which show the intersection of tradition and modernity in Busan, will be performed.

'Gyechon Starlight Orchestra' special stage celebrating the opening of the 'Gangwon Exhibition' special exhibition on November 14

In particular, on Saturday, November 14, a special performance by the 'Gyechon Starlight Orchestra' will be held to mark the opening week of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province special exhibition. The 'Gyechon Starlight Orchestra' is a group founded by the entire student body of Gyechon Elementary School in Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon, which was facing the risk of closing in 2009. Starting from small-scale cultural activities in the school and village, it is evaluated as a representative model case of regional regeneration through cultural practice, serving as the foundation for the 'Gyechon Classic Festival', a representative regional festival that is celebrating its 12th year this year. In this special opening celebration stage, the orchestra plans to vividly convey the resonance and message of hope held by regional cultural resources to the audience through a dense ensemble by child performers.

The Agency stated, "This program will be an opportunity to feel on-site how unique regional cultural resources become the foundation of K-Culture," and expressed hope that visitors to Cheongwadae Sarangchae will directly experience the excitement and beauty of regional culture.

In addition, various exhibition-linked experiential events where visitors can directly experience and understand traditional Korean colors, crafts, and unique regional cultural resources will be operated to provide a rich cultural experience. Detailed schedules and participation methods for the performances and experience programs can be found on the 'Cheongwadae Sarangchae' website (https://cwdsarangchae.kr) and the 'Eight Brilliant Colors-Cheongwadae Sarangchae' Instagram account.
