The new album title is PULSE... meaning heartbeat
The group RESCENE appeared on ‘SBS 8 News’ on the 11th, marking their first appearance on a terrestrial main news program.
Throughout the interview, the members repeatedly mentioned RESCENE's ‘story’ and ‘narrative.’ Regarding why they have many songs featuring ‘scent,’ they said, “Just as you turn around if you smell a good scent while passing by, we want to make songs that make people recall their own stories or memories upon listening to our music.” Regarding the journey to becoming the RESCENE of today, they did not forget to express gratitude to their fans, stating, “The fans who have always been closest, supporting us and staying by our side, have been a great driving force.”
“‘Popularity’ is still an embarrassing word for us”... ”Now we can share the bathroom”
When asked if they feel their popularity, WONI replied, “Popularity is still an embarrassing word for us,” and added, “Rather than feeling it directly, I think we feel it a little when everyone does a ‘sing-along’ when we go to events together.” Regarding the changes in their lifestyle after becoming a ‘trendsetting idol,’ they picked ‘the bathroom.’ WONI said with a smiling expression, “Even though the dorm has gotten bigger, the fact that we sleep and play huddled together remains the same,” but added, “Originally, we all crowded into one bathroom, but now we can all share it.”
“The background of the chart climb is ‘story’”... ”Unexpected charm? It's our true selves!”
The members mentioned ‘story’ as the background for why the album's tracks are experiencing a so-called ‘chart climb.’ MINAMI interpreted it by saying, “I think it contains the story from since we debuted,” and “Since every song has a message and a scent, I think the things we have been working hard on since a long time ago are contained in the lyrics and music.” LIV added, “It is truly something to be grateful for that people see our fun sides and then go to find our music.”
The members' easygoing and cheerful ‘unexpected charm’ also became a topic of conversation. To the anchor's question of whether they expected their ‘unexpected charm’ to be this popular, MINAMI said, “Since it is our true selves, I don't think we ever thought of it as unexpected charm,” and WONI said, “Looking at the members, I felt that I hoped someone would recognize these charms, so I feel a great sense of pride that we are now making them known even if just a little.”
“Effort does not betray”... ”We want to be a group that gives hope”
When the anchor asked, “Do you have anything you want to say to those who are working hard like RESCENE but have not yet seen the light,” the members showed emotional moments. WONI said, “I have felt clearly that ‘effort does not betray,’ so I wanted to tell them not to give up,” and expressed, “I want to be a group that always gives hope to those who are dreaming.” ZENA said, “I think we were able to overcome difficult times because the five of us were together,” and added, “I want to give strength to those who are going through difficult times through our music.” MEI shared her thoughts, saying, “I am grateful that people think of our story as their own experience and empathize with it a lot, and I feel that ‘the times we ran forward only have not been in vain.’”
“Feeling choked up when listening to the new song... It could connect with everyone's story”
There was also an introduction to the 4th mini album ‘PULSE,’ which will be released on the 3rd of next month. MINAMI said, “When you listen to it, you can feel that it is a RESCENE song,” and MEI hinted, “I think it will come out in the same direction that RESCENE has been taking.” WONI teased, “’PULSE’ means heartbeat, so I think it will be a song that can touch the heartbeats of all the public and fans.” She also said, “Even now, when I think of the lyrics and listen to this song, I feel choked up.” The members said in unison, “If you listen while thinking of our story, the lyrics become one,” and “(It) could connect with (the listener's) own story.”
After the broadcast ended, anchor Lee Hyeon-yeong and WONI also showed tears, and the full interview video will be released on the SBS website, YouTube, and other platforms on the 14th.
