Thailand Selected as First Country of Honor for Busan ACFM 2026; Thai Night Busan 2026 to Resume After 7 Years
The DITP announced it will support Thai film and content companies participating in the Asian Contents & Film Market 2026 in Busan. Thailand has been selected as the first "Country of Honor" for the event, which will feature the resumption of the Thai Night Busan 2026 networking event.
The DITP announced that it will support the participation of Thai film and content companies in the 'Asian Contents & Film Market 2026' held in Busan from October 10 to 13.
As ACFM is a major film and content business platform in Asia, Thailand has been selected as the first 'Country of Honor' for ACFM this year. Taking this opportunity, they plan to showcase the capabilities of the Thai film and content industry on the international stage and strengthen cooperation with overseas industry officials through the representative networking event, 'Thai Night Busan 2026'.
Korea is a leading nation in the global film and entertainment industry and a major hub for the Asian content industry. Annual content exports exceed 12 billion dollars, and the country is also standing out in the global digital media and online video service (OTT) sectors. The DITP continuously supported the overseas expansion of the Thai film and entertainment industry at ACFM from 2012 to 2019, but the hosting of the Thai Night event was suspended from 2020 due to COVID-19. The resumption of this event comes amid increasing interest and recognition in the overseas market for Thai films, series, animation, and digital content.
Thai Night Busan 2026 will be held on October 11 at Park Hyatt Busan. Her Royal Highness Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya Sirivadhana Barnavadi will attend this event and preside over the opening ceremony. The princess of the Thai royal family has shown interest and support for the Thai entertainment industry for a long time, and her attendance is expected to further enhance the prestige and international recognition of the event. Held under the theme 'Reimagining Thailand', this event will showcase Thailand's capabilities and new perspectives through creativity and the content industry.
The DITP and the Department of Cultural Promotion of Thailand will jointly operate the Thailand Pavilion at Asian Contents & Film Market 2026 and support the participation of 20 Thai companies in business matching. These activities, linked with Thai Night Busan 2026, focus on promoting discussions for co-production, the sale and licensing of Thai content, and the expansion of entry into overseas markets. Additionally, support will be provided so that Thai companies in the fields of film, broadcasting, series, animation, and related services can interact with overseas buyers, investors, creators, directors, and media officials to seek cooperation opportunities.
This project also aims to introduce Thailand's creative capabilities and excellent content production methods while linking business opportunities with Thai food, culture, lifestyle, and tourist destinations. Through this, it is expected to promote the export of Thai content, strengthen the global competitiveness of the national brand, and support the growth of Thailand's creative economy.
