The Busan Film Commission held the '2026 BFC Story IP Competition' awards ceremony at the ACFM joint booth in BEXCO. Out of 110 submissions, 11 winning works were selected, including the Grand Prize winner 'Fake Family' by Waegari Film.
The Busan Film Commission (Chairperson Kang Sung-kyu) held the '2026 BFC Story IP Competition' awards ceremony at the Busan Film Commission joint booth during the '2026 ACFM' held at BEXCO Exhibition Center 2 in Busan at 3 PM on the 12th (Monday).
A total of 110 entries were submitted to this year's competition, and 11 final winning works were selected through an evaluation by five external professional judges targeting the 28 works that passed the preliminary round. In particular, with the establishment of the 'Busan Bank Special Award' this year, the number of winning works increased by one compared to last year, and the total prize money is 81 million won.
The Grand Prize was awarded to the feature film 'Fake Family' by Waegari Film (Choi Beom-seok). It was selected unanimously by the judges, receiving praise for the author's ability to wittily weave together a global story with characters, situations, and events that possess both completeness and commercial potential. The Grand Prize winner is awarded 30,000,000 won.
There are two Excellence Awards. The drama/series 'Pungmun-Baram-cheoreom Eunmilhage' (Studio Killer Whale), which depicts the story of a Joseon prince and a female assassin traveling together for revenge, and the crime entertainment feature film 'Haeundae Pirate Group' (Kim Bi-chae), which features the fresh subject of a treasure hunt to find an underwater vault, were selected. Each winner is awarded 10,000,000 won.
Seven works were named for the Encouragement Award: 'Unsellable', 'Awakened One: Video Boy', 'Fire Your Boss', 'The Ghost', 'Round', 'Stop the Movie!', and 'Twenty Thousand Steps to the Ground'. Each winner is given 4,000,000 won.
The Busan Bank Special Award, newly established this year, was prepared to expand and vitalize the webtoon and animation sectors. The winning work is 'MUSHROOM' by Jung Yu-mi. As an original animation story that metaphorically expresses the characters' ego and desires through growing mushrooms, it was recognized for its potential for expansion into various formats such as webtoons, theatrical films, and OTT.
The BFC Story IP Competition, which marks its 5th year this year, discovers excellent story IPs held by creators and businesses in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions and supports industrial connections such as promotion and business meetings.
The creators of the winning works will sign a business support implementation agreement with the Busan Film Commission and receive follow-up business support, including participation in the 2027 BFC Story IP promotion event. On November 4 (Wednesday), a 'Creator Capacity Building Workshop' will be held for the competition winners and local creators.
