Busan Film Commission to Unveil 3 New Projects from Thailand, Vietnam, and More at ACFM

The Busan Film Commission (Chairperson Kang Seong-gyu) will participate in the ‘2026 Asian Contents & Film Market (hereinafter ACFM),’ the official market of the Busan International Film Festival, which will be held for four days from Saturday, October 10, to Tuesday, October 13, at the BEXCO Exhibition Center 2 in Busan, to expand business and networking between domestic and international film and video industry professionals, centered around a joint booth.

The Busan Film Commission will operate a joint booth (#D6-D9) together with the Asian Film Commission Network (AFCNet), the Asian Film Institute (AFiS), and the Busan Visual Industry Center (BVIC). The booth will share information and the latest trends in the film and video industries of Busan and various Asian countries, and support practical business and exchanges between domestic and international filmmakers.

In particular, the ‘A+B Project: Asia Meets Busan’ business meeting, which is celebrating its 4th year, will be operated constantly at the joint booth during the market period. The A+B Project is a program that activates international co-productions by connecting Asian projects with Busan and Korean filmmakers. Actual results are being achieved, such as the 2024 participating project being produced as the Korea-Taiwan co-produced period drama ‘Goodbye 1987,’ which has been broadcasting in Taiwan since last August. This year, three feature-length projects from Thailand, Vietnam, and Bangladesh will participate to explore new possibilities for cooperation.

Forums addressing major issues in the global film industry will also be held twice in conjunction with related organizations such as AFCNet. Domestic and international film and video industry experts will participate to examine key industry issues such as locations, storytelling, and changes in the distribution and circulation markets, and seek directions for cooperation to respond to the changing global industrial environment.

Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to strengthen international cooperation will also be held consecutively. A total of three MOU signing ceremonies will take place: Busan Film Commission-Mongolia National Film Commission, AFCNet-Location Managers Guild International (LMGI), and AFiS-Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP). Along with this, various exchange events such as ‘FLY PLUS, FLY Reunion Networking Happy Hour,’ which announces the new start of FLY PLUS, and the ‘2026 BFC Story IP Contest Awards Ceremony & BFC×Oppen Story Co-creation Project Pre-release’ will be prepared.

A venue will also be provided to share the educational achievements and experiences of alumni from AFiS, an institution for nurturing emerging Asian producers.

The 17 feature-length projects from 12 Asian countries developed through this year's AFiS International Film Business Academy course will be unveiled for the first time through the ‘AFiS Project Pitching’ held on Monday, October 12, at 10:00 AM in ACFM Event Room A. Trainees will directly introduce their projects to film industry professionals from around the world participating in ACFM and seek opportunities for investment, production, and international co-production.

From 1:30 PM on the same day, the ‘AFiS×NAPNet Talk: Film Festival Strategy and Beyond & Producing a Director's Debut’ will be held at the Busan Film Commission joint booth with NAPNet, an AFiS alumni network consisting of 173 people from 28 countries. AFiS-alumni producers who are actively working in the field will participate as panelists to share practical experiences and strategies, from the development of a new producer's first feature project to entering international film festivals.

Through this participation in ACFM, the Busan Film Commission plans to strengthen the foundation for cooperation between Busan and the Asian film industry and expand practical exchange opportunities to vitalize international co-production and expand global networks. Based on this, it is expected that Busan can establish itself as a global hub connecting the exchange and business of the Asian film and video industry.
