Kyungpook National University's HUSS announced on the 13th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Daegu Gyeongbuk Independent Film Association to revitalize local culture and arts.

Major officials from both organizations, including Kim Mi-jeong, director of HUSS at Kyungpook National University, and Hwang Yeong, representative of the Daegu Gyeongbuk Independent Film Association, attended the signing ceremony.

This agreement was prepared to strengthen humanities and social sciences convergence education in connection with the local community and to mutually cooperate for the revitalization of independent films and culture and arts in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions. The two organizations plan to link educational capabilities and field networks in the fields of independent film and video culture to provide students with practical experience and career exploration opportunities, contributing to the growth of the local culture and arts ecosystem.

Under the agreement, the two organizations will cooperate in: △ planning and operating programs related to independent film, video culture, and local cultural content (supporting special lectures for students, mentoring, project activities, local independent film screenings, and promoting cultural events such as film festivals, forums, and seminars) △ producing independent films and documentaries through investigation, research, and video recording of local community issues and local cultural resources △ mutual utilization of local independent film networks and exchange of experts, instructors, and advisory personnel △ discovering and nurturing local culture and arts talent.

Through this agreement, HUSS of Kyungpook National University plans to expand convergence education programs where students directly experience video production and planning at local cultural sites. The Daegu Gyeongbuk Independent Film Association intends to connect experts and instructor personnel based on its local independent film network and continue providing practical support to education and production sites.

Kim Mi-jeong, director of HUSS at Kyungpook National University, said, “This agreement will be a precious opportunity for students to experience local culture and arts sites and develop creative convergence capabilities,” and added, “We expect this to lead to the nurturing of talent that contributes to local cultural development.”

Hwang Yeong, representative of the Daegu Gyeongbuk Independent Film Association, stated, “Through cooperation with Kyungpook National University, we will expand the base of local independent films and culture and arts, and work together to create a foundation where young talents can grow in the region.”
