MovieBloc is opening "A Chuckle, Kim Kyung-rok," a solo director retrospective showcasing six short films by director Kim Kyung-rok. Conducted in collaboration with the short film distributor Sending You, the screening period is from October 1 to October 14, 2026.

The screened works are The Temperature of Time, Let Me Stay Just Tonight, September Mock Exam, Go Go! Yubari, Out of Focus, and The Far Side of the Moon. The works cover different subjects, ranging from a story where time changes with a vintage watch to the night outings of students preparing for their second college entrance exam attempt, and the companionship of former colleagues met at a film festival.

After working on film sets and at a publishing company, Director Kim is studying directing in the professional course of the School of Film at the Universidad Nacional de Artes de Corea. Having personally handled directing, cinematography, editing, and sound to create works, Kim won the Grand Prize at the Kobe Independent Film Festival and the Work Award at the Mokpo National Route 1 Independent Film Festival for Go Go! Yubari, and the Special Jury Award at the Jeonju Family Film Festival for Let Me Stay Just Tonight.

With diverse subjects ranging from clock fantasy to the daily lives of students and reunions at film festivals, the lineup allows viewers to explore the various facets of Kim's short film work. The director's history of personally handling various stages of film production and how those experiences intertwine with the subjects of each work are expected to be key points of appreciation for the retrospective.
