This performance was selected for the Korea Arts Management Service '2026 Performing Arts Regional Distribution Support Project' and was prepared to present excellent performance content to local audiences and expand opportunities to enjoy culture and arts.

The musical ‘Rachmaninoff’ is a work based on the true story of the young composer Rachmaninoff, who fell into criticism and frustration after the failed premiere of his Symphony No. 1 and became unable to write music any longer, and Dr. Nikolai Dahl, the psychiatrist in charge of his treatment. It delicately portrays the process of a genius musician who lost his music meeting one person who understands and waits for him, and then facing music and the world again.

The work unfolds centered on the relationship between the two characters, Rachmaninoff and Dr. Dahl. Through the fear of failure and inner wounds experienced by an artist, and the process of overcoming them, it delivers a universal message beyond a simple biography of a musician: 'how the sincere interest and belief of one person can change the life of another.'

In this Yeongdo performance, musical actors Won Hyung-hoon and Jeong Dong-hwa will appear to unfold the deep emotional lines of the two characters on stage. In addition, pianist Kim Yeo-rang and live performances by a string quartet will be added to vividly deliver the lyrical yet grand music unique to Rachmaninoff. The stage, where the deep resonance of classical music and the dramatic narrative of a musical harmonize, is expected to provide a unique emotion not only to classical music lovers but also to musical audiences.

In particular, the music in the work actively utilizes Rachmaninoff's musical colors to make the emotions of the play even richer. The process of an artist, who had closed the door to creation amidst failure and frustration, believing in himself again and starting music, delivers warm comfort and 'the courage to start again' to the audiences living today.

The Yeongdo Cultural Arts Center stated that it is a work where one can closely encounter the process of an artist overcoming frustration and rising again along with the beautiful music of Rachmaninoff, and expressed hope that this performance, combining the delicate acting of the actors and live performances, will be a time that delivers deep comfort and emotion to the audience.

The performance will be held a total of 2 times on October 17 at 3 PM and 7 PM, and the admission fee is 30,000 won for all seats. Yeongdo Cultural Arts Center regular members can receive a 30% discount, and VIP members can receive a 50% discount, and it is available for viewing by elementary school students and above. Reservations can be made through the Yeongdo Cultural Arts Center website and YES24, and for further details, inquiries can be made to the Yeongdo Cultural Arts Center.
