The ‘Woori Financial X Sarangui Dalpaengi Clarinet Ensemble 21st Regular Concert’ will take place at Yonsei University's Centennial Hall on November 29.
The theme of this concert is ‘Beyond the Dream’. It aims to convey the message of ‘Steps toward beyond the dream’ to the audience, capturing the stories of children and adolescents with hearing impairments who are taking steps toward their dreams through music.
The Sarangui Dalpaengi Clarinet Ensemble is a clarinet ensemble composed of children and adolescents with hearing impairments, which has grown while communicating with the world through music for over 20 years since its founding in 2003. Through steady practice and performances, the members are not only developing their musical capabilities but also continuing to experience discovering their potential on stage and communicating with society.
In this performance, various genres of music, including representative Disney OSTs, classics, operas, and K-POP, will be reinterpreted with the beautiful melodies of the clarinet. A diverse repertoire including Disney Medley, Aladdin OST, Bolero, Carmen, and Hooked on Classic Ver. 2 will be prepared to provide the audience with familiar yet unique musical enjoyment.
In particular, Bae Da-hae, who serves as a Sarangui Dalpaengi ambassador, will host this performance, and singer Shin So-yul will appear as a special guest, making the meaning of the performance even richer as different generations and genres harmonize through music.
This concert is conducted jointly with the Woori Financial Future Foundation. Since 2023, the Woori Financial Future Foundation has been supporting low-income children and adolescents with hearing impairments through the ‘Woori Rookie Project’, and is also contributing to the social adaptation and independence of children and adolescents with hearing impairments, as well as improving public perception, by supporting the operation of the Sarangui Dalpaengi Clarinet Ensemble.
Lee Haeng-hee, Chairperson of Sarangui Dalpaengi, said, “This 21st regular concert is a place for the members to discover their potential through music and show how they move toward even bigger dreams beyond that potential. We hope the audience will join the members' beautiful challenge and growth so that children with hearing impairments can communicate with the world through music and fully unfold their dreams.”
Meanwhile, Sarangui Dalpaengi is conducting activities such as cochlear implant surgery and speech rehabilitation support, hearing aid support, operating an ensemble for the hearing impaired, and awareness improvement activities to help people with hearing impairments regain sound and communicate with society. As one of these activities, the Clarinet Ensemble supports children and adolescents with hearing impairments to build confidence and communicate with society through music. The regular concert is free for all seats by invitation, and anyone can apply.
The non-profit organization Sarangui Dalpaengi is a welfare organization that finds sound for those who cannot hear, gifting them the lost ‘hope and happiness’. To this end, Sarangui Dalpaengi provides cochlear implant surgery and hearing aids to economically disadvantaged people with hearing impairments every year and is leading the way in resolving social prejudice against hearing impairment. Furthermore, it has formed the ‘Sarangui Dalpaengi Clarinet Ensemble’ to help children with hearing impairments recover confidence by handling difficult instruments and grow as proud members of society, aiding their social adaptation. Sarangui Dalpaengi is also carrying out social perception transformation projects through cultural events to create a society where correct perceptions of hearing impairment exist and everyone can communicate together.
