The Busan Film Commission, in collaboration with the Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet)…
The Busan Film Commission (Chairperson Kang Sung-kyu) will present industry programs alongside the Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet) at the ‘2026 Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM),’ which will be held from Saturday, October 10 to Tuesday, October 13.
AFCNet is Asia's largest film and video support organization, currently consisting of 43 members from 20 countries, with the Busan Film Commission serving as the chair organization and secretariat.
The Busan Film Commission and AFCNet will operate a joint booth (#D6-D9) during the ACFM period. They will introduce the filming environments and production support policies of Busan and various Asian countries, while expanding opportunities for international exchange and cooperation. The joint booth will also serve as a major stage to promote the Asian film market and address industry issues.
This year, 8 member organizations of AFCNet will participate in the joint booth. Full members include 6 organizations: △Bali Film Center △Cambodia Film Commission △Hiroshima Film Commission △Film Development Council of the Philippines △Thailand Film Office △Bhutan Infocomm and Media Authority. Associate members include 2 organizations: △Icefall Productions from Nepal △FilmAR from Korea.
On the first day of ACFM, Saturday, October 10, at 3:00 PM, the ‘AFCNet Members Spotlight’ showcase will be held to introduce the latest filming and production support information from various regions in Asia. Location managers belonging to AFCNet member organizations and the LMGI will participate.
AFCNet member organizations from Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, and other regions will share various soft money policies and support cases, such as regional filming environments, location incentives, and co-production funds.
Following this, location managers from the LMGI will introduce their roles and methods of collaboration in international production sites. They also plan to share professional perspectives on the Asian location market and discuss future possibilities for cooperation.
On the second day of ACFM, Sunday, October 11, at 11:00 AM, the ‘MPA×BFC×AFCNet Forum: The Post-Theatrical Timeline’ will be held in conjunction with the MPA.
The forum will compare the changes in the ‘release window’ (the order and timing in which a film is released to various distribution channels such as theaters, VOD, and OTT) among four countries—Korea, the United States, France, and Japan—amidst the growth of streaming platforms and changes in the theatrical market. It will also examine the impact of the release window on rights structures, financing, and investment recovery, and trace how distribution models are changing globally.
Son Bo-young, representative of MPA KOREA, will moderate the session, while Han Soon-ho, a professor at Busan Asian Film School, Agathe VINSON, the video exchange officer at the Embassy of France in Korea, and Takeshi MORIYA, CEO and producer of Atmovie, will attend as panelists to share cases and experiences from their respective markets.
Kang Sung-kyu, Chairperson of the Busan Film Commission, stated, “I hope this program serves as a place to understand the changing trends of the global film industry and discover new possibilities for cooperation. As the chair organization of AFCNet, we will strengthen global communication and cooperation and lead the collective development of the Asian film and video industry.”
