Kim Hee-young and Chey Tae-won attend The Korea Society event in New York
SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and T&C Foundation Director Kim Hee-young attended The Korea Society's annual gala at Cipriani South Street in New York. This marks their first public appearance together following the retrial ruling regarding the asset division with Roh Soh-yeong.
According to media reports, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won and T&C Foundation Director Kim Hee-young attended The Korea Society's annual gala held at Cipriani South Street in New York, USA, on the 28th (local time). Director Kim wore a hanbok consisting of an ivory jeogori and a light yellow skirt with a light green goreum, and sat side-by-side with Chairman Chey, who was dressed in a tuxedo, at the dinner table to greet attendees. This is the first time the two have been seen together in public following the retrial ruling on the asset division with Art Center Nabi Director Roh Soh-yeong.
The two attended the Social Value Connect event together in 2019, and stood side-by-side on a photo wall for the first time at a gala dinner in Paris, France, in October 2023. The divorce of Chairman Chey and Director Roh, along with Chairman Chey's obligation to pay 2 billion won in alimony, was finalized by a Supreme Court of Korea ruling last October.
On July 24, the Family Division 1 of the Seoul High Court ruled in the asset division retrial that Chairman Chey must pay 944 billion won in cash to Director Roh. After submitting a notice of appeal on August 14, Chairman Chey's side filed an application to reduce the scope of the appeal on August 31. They decided to accept approximately 700 billion won of the asset division amount and seek the Supreme Court's judgment regarding the remaining 244 billion won. In the re-appeal trial, key issues include the judgment lowering Director Roh's contribution to asset formation from 35% to 33.3%, the reflection of SK stock prices, and whether the shares of SK Siltron are included in the division targets.
