Jung Soo-jung: How a Choice at 12 and a Debut at 14 Changed Her Life

Jung Soo-jung said that the choices she made during her childhood created her life today.

On the 27th, an interview video titled 'What was the decisive moment that made the current Jung Soo-jung?' was uploaded to the YouTube channel W KOREA.

Jung Soo-jung cited her decision to become a trainee at the age of 12 as the decisive moment that made her who she is.

She said, "The choice to enter as a trainee is what simply allowed me to be who I am now," adding, "Because I was so young then, I thought of it as something very trivial. I couldn't feel the weight of it that greatly."

Jung Soo-jung said that the moment she answered "I will do it" back then, knowing nothing, feels like a very huge choice looking back now. She continued, saying that while "12-year-olds these days might be different," "that choice, when I think about it now, is so, so big, but at the time, I just did it without knowing anything."

Jung Soo-jung, who debuted as Krystal of the group f(x) in 2009, has continued both music activities and acting. She appeared in dramas such as 'The Heirs', 'Prison Playbook', 'Police University', and 'Crazy Love', and walked the red carpet at the 76th Cannes Film Festival with the movie 'Cobweb'.

She also shared her thoughts on the time she has lived under the public eye. When asked if she is a free person, Jung Soo-jung replied, "It feels like I'm not quite a free person."

She said, "I become a bit more careful, I worry more, and I pay more attention to even trivial things," adding, "When I think about it, I also feel like I am a bit more trapped than when I was young." However, she added, "But there is also a free side. So I think it's half and half."

Regarding her image of looking cold, she said she wants to show more of her other sides. Jung Soo-jung stated that if a movie or drama were made with her as the protagonist, she would want to capture her true self rather than packaging it glamorously.

She said, "There is a tendency for people to see me as somewhat cold," but laughed, saying, "While there is a cold side, I think there are more sides that are not like that. I am very ordinary."

She cited greed as the reason for continuing music and acting. Jung Soo-jung said, "The desire to keep doing music, keep doing works, and want to do various things all seems to come from within me."

She continued, "I am a person who hates to regret," saying she did not want to let go of music, and that greed for better characters and working with new people arises in acting as well. She shared that after handling consecutive drama and movie shoots this year, she is now working on a new drama and an album simultaneously. She said, "I have been very busy, and I think I will be busy until the end."
