MAGO SOUND, which participated in the music for the film 'The Intern', is continuing its new work as the music director for a street parade puppet play.

MAGO SOUND will serve as the music director and composer for the street parade puppet play 'Gadan, Who Shares Good Fortune', which will take place at Guro Traditional Market from October 24 to 25, connecting the movements and emotions of the puppets and the street scenery through music in a performance without dialogue.

MAGO SOUND, which has created its own musical language in various fields such as film music, wellness music, and live performances, will use music in this work to unravel the flow of the street performance created by the movement of the puppets, the space, and the audience together. Especially since it is a non-verbal puppet play, the music goes beyond being simple background and becomes another language that conveys the emotions of the characters and the flow of the scenes.

A warm street play following one person's memories and years

'Gadan, Who Shares Good Fortune' is a local culture and arts project hosted by the Sungkyunkwan University RISE Project Group and the Korea Puppetry Association, and produced by the creative puppet play group Imagine Club.

The work depicts the dream journey of 'Gadan', a grandmother who falls asleep at a stall in Guro Traditional Market, and her pet dog 'Ppoppi'.

Gadan's childhood games, beautiful moments, and memories flowing through the passing years unfold like turning the pages of an old photo album. As large puppets, puppeteering, visual images, and music harmonize, the everyday space of the market transforms at some point into a stage where Gadan's memories and dreams flow.

Audiences move along with Gadan's journey and naturally participate in the games and parade. The performance concludes as Gadan, having woken from a long dream, shares warm 'good fortune' with the people.

In that it looks at the life and memories of a person who could be anywhere around us, rather than a special hero or a massive event, the work delivers a story that can resonate across generations.

From the OST of the film 'My Tutor Friend' to the film 'The Intern', and now back to the streets

MAGO SOUND, consisting of vocalist Mago, handpan SION, synthesizer Song Su-jeong, and percussion Jo Jeong-uk, is a music creation group that has built an independent musical world by connecting meditation, movement, and space centered around music.

Vocalist Mago has continued musical activities steadily since meeting the public with the voice of 'Premonition' from the OST of the film 'My Tutor Friend' in 2003. In 2026, she met the audience again with film music after about 20 years by participating in the music for the film 'The Intern' with MAGO SOUND. And now, they head beyond the screen to the streets.

In 'Gadan, Who Shares Good Fortune', MAGO SOUND connects one person's memories, the movement of the puppets, and the street scenery where the audience moves together into a single musical flow.

Unlike typical performances with fixed stages and seating, the music is composed to breathe naturally with the movement of the puppets, the transition of scenes, and the movement of the audience and the rhythm of the parade, matching the characteristics of the work where actors, puppets, and the audience move together throughout the market.

A non-verbal puppet play, where music becomes another storyteller

'Gadan, Who Shares Good Fortune' is a street play that delivers a story centered on the movement of puppets, images, and music without dialogue.

MAGO SOUND musically connects Gadan's childhood and memories, the flow of time, and the boundary between dreams and reality, designing the musical breath of the entire work according to the emotional lines of each scene and the rhythm of the parade.

In some scenes, the music follows the movement of the puppets, and in other scenes, the music opens the direction of emotion first. As a work without words, not only the melody and rhythm but also the space between sounds becomes an important part of the story.

Mago, the representative of MAGO SOUND, said, "We hope that rather than the music preceding the story, it stays by the side of the characters and can tell emotions that cannot be expressed in words. Especially since this work has no dialogue, we thought that while the music must convey a lot, it is also important not to say too much at the same time. We hope that music stays between Gadan's memories and the movement of the puppets, and that audiences can meet their own memories and emotions within that space. It is a meaningful work for us that another project following film music will now meet people directly in an everyday space like a market."

Meanwhile, MAGO SOUND has steadily explored how music, space, and the sensory experiences of the audience can be connected through wellness music and Silent Live.

This work also focuses on not merely staying as music that assists the scenes, but connecting the movement of the puppets, the space, and the audience's experience to create the flow of the entire work.

Imagine Club and MAGO SOUND meet through puppets and music

The producer, Imagine Club, is a visual and performing arts group that has communicated with the audience by breaking down the boundaries between the stage and the seating based on large puppet production and puppeteering.

They continue to carry out street parades and participatory art projects that meet the audience directly in the everyday spaces of citizens beyond theaters, including the creative non-verbal puppet play 'Young Dobi and the White Cow'.

In this work, MAGO SOUND's music is added to the large puppets, movements, and visual images created by Imagine Club. Rather than keeping puppet plays and music as separate elements, the two creative groups complete the work in a way where the movement of the puppets and the music react to each other, and visual and auditory images together create a single scene and emotion.

Guro Traditional Market becomes a single performance venue

Another feature of this performance is that the stage is not a theater, but a traditional market. Once the performance begins, the everyday scenery of the alleys, stalls, merchants, and citizens passing through Guro Traditional Market itself transforms into part of the performance.

Audiences do not merely watch the work from fixed seats; they follow Gadan's journey, participate in the play, and become part of a parade along with the puppets, actors, and music.

This project, held jointly by the Sungkyunkwan University RISE Project Group and the Korea Puppetry Association, allows citizens to experience performing arts close to their daily lives and adds a new cultural landscape to the living space of the traditional market.

MAGO SOUND, which has worked across film music, wellness music, and live performances—ranging from participating in the music of the film 'The Intern' to serving as a music director and composer for street parade puppet plays—continues its way of connecting music with stories, spaces, and people through "Gadan, Who Shares Good Fortune."

From the screen to the street, from the theater to everyday spaces, MAGO SOUND's music continues to head toward human stories through different genres and spaces.

"Gadan, Who Shares Good Fortune" will be held a total of four times within Guro Traditional Market on October 24 (Sat) at 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, and October 25 (Sun) at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, with free admission.
