Creative group Hasso will present the sound play 'Jinjin and the Blue Moss Dragon' at Gimpo Art Hall on November 18. The 60-minute production, which features pansori blended with electronic sound and electric guitar, is free for all seats.

The creative group Hasso will meet audiences at Gimpo Art Hall on November 14 with its showcase performance, the creative sound reading play 'Jinjin and the Blue Moss Dragon.' The production was selected for the 2026 Gimpo Arts Activity Support Project's mid-to-long-term creative support.

'Jinjin and the Blue Moss Dragon,' presented by the creative group Hasso, is a work that modernly reinterprets the 'Legend of Dragon Rock' passed down in the Jeollyuri Port area of Gimpo. Through the adventure of a girl named Jinjin, who lives while hiding her true self, the work conveys universal themes of the courage for self-expression and trust in others.

The protagonist, Jinjin, loves pansori but hides herself by saying everything in reverse due to fear of the gaze and ridicule of others. One day, after meeting a dragon sealed in a blue moss cave in front of Daemyeong Port, Jinjin begins a journey to save the dragon and the village. Facing various trials among people who do not believe her words, Jinjin eventually confronts the true voice she had been hiding. Through Jinjin's growth process, the work tells how the courage to express one's heart honestly and the heart to trust one another can be a force that changes individuals and communities.

In particular, this performance uses pansori as the core driving force for the narrative development and presents a new kind of sound play that blends tradition and modernity by combining various musical elements, including electronic sound, electric guitar, and traditional percussion. By adding modern sounds to the unique narrative and resonance of pansori, the production aims to increase audience immersion and realize a stage where local legends meet the emotions of contemporary audiences.

Furthermore, the work explores the artistic possibilities of local cultural resources through creation based on the legends and regional characteristics of Gimpo. While targeting children and family audiences as the primary focus, it contains a story that can be empathized with regardless of generation, providing an opportunity to experience traditional arts in a more familiar way.

The creative group Hasso, centered around artist Shin Han-byeol and director Kim Seong Eun, has been continuing creative activities that resolve contemporary questions based on pansori through art. This work is also meaningful in that it attempts to expand local stories into today's stage language by inheriting the value of traditional arts and adding modern modes of expression.

The production features a diverse creative team to enhance its quality, including Shin Han-byeol for composition and song, Lee Ga-eun as writer, and Kim Seong Eun as director. Other contributors include Eom Ji-hye for lighting design, Jeong A-ra-mi and Park Jae-yeon for video design, Park Se-hyeon for stage design, Kim Jae-sik for stage production, Park Gi-seop for sound design, and Shin Han-gyeol for promotional material design.

The sound play 'Jinjin and the Blue Moss Dragon' will be performed at Gimpo Art Hall on Wednesday, November 18, at 8:00 PM, with a running time of approximately 60 minutes. The performance is free for all seats, and advanced reservations can be made through the Gimpo Cultural Foundation website. Inquiries regarding the performance can be made via DM to the creative group Hasso's Instagram (@project_hasso).

As its name suggests, inspired by the warm greetings "Jal-sa-so" (live well) and "Haengbok-hage-sal-a-boso" (let's live happily), Hasso is an arts organization that seeks to communicate with audiences in new ways by applying a modern sense onto the deep roots of traditional Korean music. Hasso aims for a "living tradition" in today's context rather than a preserved tradition, building its own unique artistic color by combining the multi-dimensional narrative construction of director Kim Seong Eun with the original creative capabilities of artist Shin Han-byeol.
