Studio S joins hands with Singapore's Mediacorp and Soonshot

To make a full-scale entry into global micro-drama production

- SBS's representative hit drama IPs to be reborn in short-drama grammar! At least 4 or more co-productions planned

- 'Still 17' selected as the first project, aiming for release at the end of the year!

- Global mega IP 'Business Proposal' also under development, maximizing synergy with joint appearances by Korean and Singaporean actors

Studio S, a drama production and distribution specialist of SBS Media Group, is embarking on a full-scale move into global micro-drama co-production by partnering with Singapore's leading media company Mediacorp and the micro-drama platform Soonshot.

The three companies, including Studio S, will sign a strategic partnership agreement to co-produce at least four micro-dramas at 'BCWW 2026' held at COEX in Seoul on the 15th.

This partnership is designed to go beyond simple buzz in the recent micro-drama market, which centers on provocative subject matter and fast pacing, to present 'well-made short-form' content that possesses both entertainment value and artistic quality. The three companies plan to present new possibilities for short-form content by implementing solid stories, attractive characters, and high levels of completion within a short running time. Furthermore, just as K-dramas have created their own unique success formulas in the global market, they plan to nurture 'K-short-form' into a new global content genre based on differentiated planning capabilities and production competitiveness.

To this end, Studio S will adapt its proven representative SBS drama IPs to fit the short-drama grammar and present them to the global market. The first project to open the doors of this project is the 2018 romantic comedy 'Still 17', starring Shin Hae-sun and Yang Se-jong, which is still talked about as a life-changing drama even after its conclusion; it aims to be released at the end of this year. Following this, the mega IP 'Business Proposal', which demonstrated the power of K-rom-com by becoming a hit not only domestically but also overseas, is also being developed in a micro-drama version, and various sequels will be presented sequentially thereafter.

In the co-produced works, Korean and Singaporean actors will appear together to expand the touchpoints with global viewers and maximize box office synergy. The completed works will meet viewers worldwide through multiple major global platforms as well as the Soonshot and Mediacorp platforms.

Soonshot is a K-drama-based fandom-participatory micro-drama platform operated by ADG Company, in which comedian Lee Kyung-kyu participated as a co-founder, and it is currently being serviced in 8 countries globally, including the Americas and Asia.

With this co-production, Studio S will accelerate its attack on the global short-form market by expanding the production, distribution, and IP capabilities built by the 'drama kingdom' SBS into the micro-drama field. Accordingly, Hong Seong-chang, CEO of Studio S, expressed his ambition, saying, "We intend to expand the drama production capabilities accumulated by Studio S into micro-dramas to create a new content grammar," and "We will also actively utilize new technologies such as AI to increase production competitiveness and continue to expand global distribution and viewer touchpoints."

Meanwhile, Virginia Lim, Head of Content & Artist at partner Mediacorp, stated, "It is meaningful to present high-quality micro-dramas with solid storytelling and high production completion," and Lee Kyung-kyu, CEO of Soonshot, shared his thoughts, saying, "I believe that K-short-form can grow into a genre loved in the global market following K-drama, and I am happy to take those first steps together with Studio S and Mediacorp."

Starting with this co-production, Studio S plans to continuously expand the micro-dramatization of its competitive K-drama IPs and global co-productions.
