Classical music met at Dongtan Lake Park, Hwaseong City Orchestra concludes fifth performance

The Hwaseong City Cultural Foundation (CEO Ahn Pil-yeon) successfully concluded the Hwaseong City Orchestra planned performance ‘Classical Music Comes to You V’ at the Dongtan Lake Park parking tower central staircase hall at 7 PM on Sunday, September 20.

‘Classical Music Comes to You V’ is a performance series by the Hwaseong City Orchestra that steps out of concert halls to present classical music close to the daily lives of citizens. Following performances at libraries, welfare facilities, and public offices this year, the fifth performance was held at Dongtan Lake Park.

This performance consisted of various arrangements, including woodwind ensembles, string quartets, percussion, and full orchestra. It presented a familiar repertoire spanning classical and popular music, including ‘Hornpipe’ from Handel’s ‘Water Music’, ‘Fossils’ from Saint-Saëns’ ‘The Carnival of the Animals’, as well as Coldplay’s ‘Viva La Vida’, the ‘Toy Story’ OST, and Gershwin’s ‘An American in Paris’.

In particular, by holding the performance in the open space of Dongtan Lake Park, a stage was prepared where citizens enjoying walks and leisure could naturally encounter classical music.

Lim Dong-guk, music director of the Hwaseong City Orchestra, said, “I hope classical music becomes more natural and familiar within the daily lives of citizens,” and added, “We will continue to hold performances that breathe closely with citizens in various spaces in the future.”

The Hwaseong City Cultural Foundation plans to expand the performance stages of the Hwaseong City Arts Company into the living spheres of citizens and broaden opportunities to enjoy culture and arts in everyday life.
