Studio Choice, a comprehensive content investment and distribution company, announced that VOD services for the Chinese youth BL drama 'What Happened on Lychee Island' will launch on the 30th following its first domestic TV broadcast. The work was previously released through Channel View from October 20 to 25.
'What Happened on Lychee Island' is a four-part romance set in a lychee orchard on a remote island. Starring Hui Chen and Liu Yihe, the story follows Nie Xiaozhi, who experiences unfamiliar emotions after meeting Chen Li, a friend of his older brother, during summer vacation. The drama delicately captures the process of Chen Li, a school assistant, and Nie Xiaozhi spending time together and growing close to one another.
The work is characterized by its distinct summer atmosphere and sensory visual beauty. Studio Choice plans to offer a one-week pre-exclusive release on Heavenly starting on the 30th, before expanding service to KT Genie TV, SK Btv, LG U+ tv, TVING, WATCHA, Wavve, Skylife, and Studio Choice starting November 6. This move is seen as an expansion of the lineup for Studio Choice, which has consistently presented BL content.
“'What Happened on Lychee Island' is a work where refreshing summer landscapes harmonize with the delicate emotional lines of the two protagonists, offering a youth romance where one can feel the fluttering excitement and longing of first love,” a Studio Choice official stated. “We will continue to secure competitive content across various genres and strengthen our distribution and delivery capabilities through cooperation with major domestic platforms.”
