Thirty young musician teams will perform at the 2026 Gangwon Music Festival in Chuncheon on October 30 and 31, featuring celebratory concerts by Kim Ki-tae and Cheetah to help revitalize the old downtown area.
Gangwon State will host the ‘2026 Gangwon Music Festival’ for two days from October 30 to 31 in the vicinity of Gongjicheon and Uiam Park in Chuncheon.
This event brings to the stage the demands for expanded performance opportunities and creative support that arose during a communication meeting held this past September between Governor Woo Sang-ho and young musicians residing in Gangwon.
The state plans to transform the stagnant old downtown area into a complex cultural street where youth and art coexist, thereby adding vitality to local commercial districts.
Thirty teams of young Gangwon musicians, selected through open recruitment and online auditions, will present various performances including bands and vocals.
Performances will take place on both days, divided into two sessions: from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Singer Kim Ki-tae will perform a celebratory concert on October 30, followed by singer Cheetah on October 31. The state plans to use this festival as an opportunity to link youth cultural and artistic activities with the revitalization of local tourism, developing the old downtown of Chuncheon into a new cultural and tourism hub.
