is a historical storytelling program that follows the footsteps of historical figures by visiting the locations themselves. This episode highlights Baekbeom Kim Gu, who dedicated his entire life to the independence of his motherland. UNESCO has officially designated this year to 'commemorate the 150th anniversary of Kim Gu's birth,' showing that the values of culture and peace emphasized by Kim Gu align with UNESCO's goals. The production team visited sites where traces of Kim Gu remain, from Hyochang Park in Seoul to Shanghai and Jiaxing in China, to retrace the life of independence activist Kim Gu and the struggle of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea.Reunited 'Infinite Challenge' Members
In this journey, Park Myeong-su, Jeong Jun-ha, and Jung Hyung-don gather together for the first time on terrestrial TV since 'Infinite Challenge.' The Connection of Young Kim Gu and 27 Years of Exile
After facing frustration in the civil service examination at age 17, Kim Gu encountered Donghak and entered a new path, during which he formed a connection in 1909 in Harbin with Ahn Jung-geun, who executed Ito Hirobumi. Heading to Shanghai in 1919, Kim Gu began 27 years of exile while leading the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea alongside figures such as Ahn Chang-ho. In 1931, he organized the Korean Patriotic Corps, leading the righteous actions of Ahn Bong-gil and Yun Bong-gil. Following Yun Bong-gil's action, a bounty of approximately 35 billion won in today's value was placed on Kim Gu, and he continued a life of fleeing through various parts of China to evade the pursuit of the Japanese Imperial Army. The production team met the descendants of the family that risked their lives to hide Kim Gu at that time in China to hear their stories.
The Hero's Homecoming and the Final Moments at Gyeonggyojang
Returning to his homeland in 1945 after 27 years, Kim Gu set out to bring the remains of comrades buried in foreign lands back to his country. The remains of the three righteous activists—Yun Bong-gil, Ahn Bong-gil, and Baek Jeong-gi—found by the remains excavation team organized by the activist Park Yeol, were interred in Hyochang Park. On Sunday, June 26, 1949, Kim Gu fell after four gunshots while staying at Gyeonggyojang in Seoul, and the production team retraces the events that occurred at Gyeonggyojang that day on-site.
