ChungKang College of Cultural Industries AI Film Festival selects ‘Featured Projects 5’… Professor Lee Dong-hu's work takes TOP 1

ChungKang College of Cultural Industries announced on the 30th that the ChungKang International AI Genre Film Festival was selected as one of the ‘Featured Projects 5’ at the ‘AIDOL101 X IDAC TECHTAINMENT 2026 SEOUL·Forum & Awards’. The media art work ‘The Connected, Disconnected Society’ by Professor Lee Dong-hu, who serves as a professor at the Game Contents School and director of the AI Innovation Center, rose to TOP 1 in the AI VISUAL category.

‘Featured Projects 5’ is not a category that ranks projects against each other, but rather selects five projects by examining originality, tech-tainment value, sustainability, and scalability. The ChungKang International AI Genre Film Festival, held for the first time in 2026, was introduced as a project that not only involves the creation and screening of AI genre films but also connects creative methods in the AI era with related discussions. The university is preparing to hold the 2nd edition in 2027.

Professor Lee's work deals with how people are trapped within algorithms and their own perspectives in a technologically connected society, unable to hear each other's voices. By pointing out disconnection, confirmation bias, and AI dependence in the hyper-connected era, it questions whether a ‘true connection’ between humans and nature is possible. The context of this selection lies in demonstrating AI creative achievements while simultaneously addressing the issues technology has on social relationships.

Professor Lee participated as a panelist in the event forum ‘The Present and Next of AI × K-Culture’ to discuss the purpose of the film festival, the role of university education in the AI era, and the creative methods students will experience. He stated that the connections formed around the film festival are expanding to the industry, creators, and new projects, and expressed his intention to continue related activities so that cooperation outside the school leads to creative experiences and educational opportunities for students.
