Dolby Laboratories (hereinafter Dolby) introduces the October Dolby Cinema releases 'Digger' and 'Look Back,' filled with new works from world-renowned film masters.
These screenings can be experienced with even clearer colors and richer sound at a total of 14 locations, including Dolby Cinema, which applies Dolby's premium HDR video technology 'Dolby Vision®' and next-generation immersive audio technology 'Dolby Atmos®', and 'Dolby Vision + Atmos®' special theaters.
On the 3rd, 'Digger', the new work from director Alejandro G. Inarritu, who has established himself as a master of the film industry with 'Birdman' and 'The Revenant', will be released. Following its recent global premiere, it is gathering anticipation from audiences with high praise such as "Tom Cruise's best acting since 'Magnolia'" and "An amazing film created by the boldest challenge." The story follows a small crack occurring at the drilling facility of oil tycoon 'Digger Rockwell', played by Tom Cruise, which turns into an unprecedented disaster that shakes the entire world. Alejandro G. Inarritu's sensory visual beauty more clearly realizes the unique, strange, and intense atmosphere of black comedy through the vivid colors of Dolby Vision. Additionally, the vivid sound of Dolby Atmos® maximizes Tom Cruise's acting transformation and adds more immersion to the unprecedented situation that spreads into a massive disaster that blows away the whole world.
On the 8th, 'Look Back', a new work by director Hirokazu Kore-eda based on the manga of the same name by Tatsuki Fujimoto from the 'Chainsaw Man' series, will be released. It depicts the story of 'Fujino', who serialized a four-panel manga in the school newspaper, and 'Kyomoto', who only drew pictures in her room, forming a connection through manga and growing together. The clear contrast of Dolby Vision captures the analog texture felt in Hirokazu Kore-eda's characteristic film footage, and the spatial sound of Dolby Atmos® maximizes the delicate emotions and expressions of the characters, delivering the shining moments of growth and loss created by the two girls more deeply.
Megabox will provide Dolby posters on a first-come, first-served basis to viewers of 'Look Back' screening in Dolby special theaters. Information on poster distribution locations can be checked on the Megabox website and mobile app.
Dolby Cinema, which operates more than 290 locations in 15 countries worldwide, provides a different level of cinematic experience across all genres by combining 'Dolby Vision®' technology, which realizes a vivid screen through a color palette in the billions, with 'Dolby Atmos®' technology, which boasts sound that feels as if it surrounds the audience from all directions. The first domestic branch officially opened in July 2020 at the Megabox Coex branch, and a total of 8 Dolby Cinemas are operating in Korea, including Anseong Starfield, Namyangju Hyundai Outlet Space 1, Daejeon Shinsegae Art & Science, Daegu Shinsegae, Suwon AK Plaza, Songdo, and Hanam Starfield. In addition, 'Dolby Vision + Atmos®' special theaters applying Dolby's next-generation integrated solution are operating at a total of 6 locations, including Guui Eastpole, Mokdong, Cheongju Terminal, Goyang Starfield, Sangam World Cup Stadium, and Suwon Starfield.
