IVE Co-Writes Its "Girl Hero" Anthem "Looks Can Kill," Out Ahead of the Album on the 19th
IVE will pre-release the title track of its mini album "Looks Can Kill" on the 19th, with member REI among the lyricists. The album follows on the 26th, introducing a "girl hero" identity.
IVE's member REI is among the lyricists of "Looks Can Kill," the title track of the group's new mini album of the same name, alongside Seo Ji-eum and Lil Cherry. According to the group's agency, Starship Entertainment, the song will be pre-released at 6 p.m. on the 19th on online music sites.
A new "girl hero" identity
The new release carries on the "girl fantasy" character IVE has shown so far while presenting a new identity: the "girl hero." Built on the premise of heroes whose very existence has a deadly impact, the album as a whole captures what it calls an "IVE-style girl hero."
The title track
"Looks Can Kill" delivers the album's core message directly. Since their debut, IVE have made "self-confidence" their theme, and in this song they tell the story that anyone can be the protagonist of their own life, and a hero. Musically, it is an electronic dance pop track, pairing heavy, rough bass with dynamic drums and rich electronic sound.
Schedule
IVE released concept photos for the "HERO ON SET" version on the 18th. On the 19th, the group will hold the Spotify Dive Academy at 8 p.m. at Arc Gangnam in Seoul. The mini album "Looks Can Kill" goes on sale on the 26th.
