Kim Namgil to Host Seoul Drama Awards on October 8th with Lee Jae-eun

The Seoul Drama Awards Organizing Committee announced that Kim Namgil, who was appointed as an Official Ambassador, and MBC announcer Lee Jae-eun will co-host the 'Seoul Drama Awards 2026' ceremony, which will be held on Thursday, October 8th, at the KBS Hall in Yeouido. The awards ceremony is scheduled to be broadcast live on MBC starting from 4:55 PM that day.

Kim Namgil, who is serving as an Official Ambassador for this year's Seoul Drama Awards, is an actor and cultural arts activist who has been active across various genres. Currently filming as the protagonist of the new SBS drama 'Nightmare' and with the film 'Mongyu Dowondo' awaiting release, he has also consistently worked to spread social value through culture and arts by founding the cultural arts NGO 'Gil Story.' This time, moving beyond being an Official Ambassador, he will take the stage as the ceremony MC to serve as a bridge connecting drama creators, actors, and viewers from around the world.

Kim Namgil expressed his thoughts upon appointment, saying, "As K-dramas receive love from people around the world, it is meaningful and honorable to serve as the ambassador for the Seoul Drama Awards. For the 21st Seoul Drama Awards this year, a record high of 352 works from 46 countries and regions were submitted. Following judging by a global jury, 30 works for the International Competition category and 34 individuals (or teams) for individual awards have advanced to the final round, with major domestic and international actors and creators including Go Youn Jung, Koo Kyo Hwan, Kim Go-eun, Kim Seon-ho, Ryu Seung Ryong, as well as Gary Oldman and Carey Mulligan, being named as nominees.

Prior to the awards ceremony, a '70th Anniversary of Korean Drama Ceremony and Celebration Performance' will be held at COEX Magok on October 6th, while the Seoul Drama Awards 2026 red carpet and awards ceremony will take place at the KBS Hall on October 8th. From October 9th to 10th, 'Drama Festa' will be held at Banpo Hangang Park and Seokchon Lake Seoho (Songpa Naru Park), where domestic and international drama fans will enjoy the festival throughout various locations in Seoul through drama talk concerts, OST concerts, screenings, and experiential programs.
