Director Lee Joon-ik's 'Father's Home-cooked Meal' Production Cost 500 Million Won... Emphasizing the Economic Efficiency of Vertical Films

Director Lee Joon-ik revealed the production process of the film 'Father's Home-cooked Meal', which will be released exclusively at LOTTE CINEMA on September 9. At the press screening held on the 3rd at LOTTE CINEMA World Tower in Songpa-gu, Seoul, Director Lee stated that the production cost for this work was 500 million won. He mentioned that the average production cost for typical short-form content is around 150 million won, explaining that this film was produced on a relatively large scale.

Director Lee emphasized the economic advantages of the vertical format. He added that if it had been filmed in a horizontal format, the production cost would have been expected to be more than five times higher, and the number of staff members would have had to increase from 33 to around 100. Regarding the number of filming sessions, while horizontal films typically require 40 sessions, this work was completed in 14 sessions. He stated that the technical approach using small cameras and equipment was advantageous for cost reduction.

Based on the webtoon of the same name by author Gorigta, this film tells the story of Ha Eung, a father who has only sought home-cooked meals for 40 years, as he takes on the challenge of cooking in place of his wife, Sun-ae. Actor Jung Jin-young plays the role of Ha Eung, Lee Jung-eun plays Sun-ae, and Byun Yo-han appears as the eldest son, Myeong-bok.
