Lee Sun-bin says she left a letter at home and traveled from Cheonan to Seoul to audition as a high school student hoping to debut. She will recount the experience as the first guest on SBS’s new variety show “Master Hang-jun,” which premieres Oct. 15 at 9 p.m.
In the episode, Sun-bin says she took money she had saved from part-time jobs, left a letter and ran away from home to attend auditions in Seoul. After auditioning, she went through idol trainee training at a newly established agency. The show’s preview also highlights her singing, which it describes as impressive.
“Master Hang-jun,” directed by Lee Dong-won and Kam Yu-min, written by Kim Myung-jung and co-produced by Content Lab VIVO, is SBS’s new cinematic talk variety show. The program centers on Jang Hang-jun, described in its premise as having been “sometimes pathetic and sometimes servile, but more radiant than anyone,” as he holds secret auditions to cast top actors in his autobiographical film “Master Hang-jun.” It pairs him with celebrities for conversational exchanges.
The episode also features a reveal about Sun-bin’s nine-year relationship with Lee Kwang-soo. Jang says, “Your boyfriend is Lee Kwang-soo? I didn’t know,” prompting Sun-bin to reply, “Isn’t that a bit much? We’ve been together for nine years!” Kim Poong then jokes, “That’s right. I heard about it!”
Yoo Jae-myung says the couple look “really lovely” when they are together, adding that he often meets Lee Kwang-soo. Kim Poong also says the two are well suited. Sun-bin responds, “Thank you,” with what the program’s preview describes as a relaxed smile.
The first episode of “Master Hang-jun” airs on SBS on Oct. 15 at 9 p.m.
