The observational variety program Let's Live Together with Hwang Shin-hye follows singles who have lived different lives as they move away from solitary routines to explore the meaning of living together through shared residency.
The singles visit the Sineup Five-Day Market, the largest traditional market in Pocheon. To support village residents busy with the harvest, the three participants prepare snacks consisting of dumplings, acorn jelly soup, and fruit makgeolli, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the market while selecting ingredients. While enjoying local specialty pork ribs, the trio recalls childhood memories tied to the market. Specifically, Shin Gye-suk reveals a dizzying story of how she lost her mother at the market and was nearly adopted.
A snack mission full of crises
With the help of a neighbor known for her skilled cooking, the singles set out to prepare the snacks. While learning to make Hwanghae Province-style dumplings—which feature tofu, kimchi, and meat—Yang Jung-a struggles with clumsy knife skills. Unable to watch further, the elderly neighbor demonstrates the technique herself. When communication with Shin Gye-suk also falters, the neighbor eventually sighs, "I can't live like this!" To make matters worse, an order for snack delivery arrives before the dumplings are even fully cooked, followed by further unexpected situations, such as the acorn jelly soup broth not being properly seasoned.
A heartwarming snack delivery
The singles head out to deliver the snacks to the residents busy with the autumn harvest. Walking through the golden rice fields, Shin Gye-suk displays extensive knowledge of harvesting and agricultural machinery, living up to her reputation as a "farmer's daughter." As they deliver the carefully prepared snacks, the three listen to the joys and sorrows of the residents regarding farming and feel a sense of accomplishment seeing them enjoy the food. Meanwhile, Hwang Shin-hye, attempting to drive a combine harvester for the first time in her life, cuts the rice straight with skills unexpected of a beginner, joyfully exclaiming, "I have a talent for this!" She even receives a job offer from a farmer.
The singles' "autumn harvest snack delivery journey" can be seen on Wednesday, October 28 at 7:40 PM on KBS1 Let's Live Together with Hwang Shin-hye.
