SBS 'Shooting Stars' will kick off the first-ever 'Handball Cup' featuring legends of South Korean handball through a broadcast on Wednesday the 2nd at 9 PM. This tournament was planned in collaboration with the Korea Handball Federation and SK hynix in celebration of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
In this 'Handball Cup,' legends representing South Korean handball will step up in large numbers as head coaches. Along with the 'God of Handball' Yoon Kyung-shin, Lee Sang-eun—the real-life protagonist of the movie 'Forever Alone'—as well as Kim On-a and Bae Min-hee, who led the golden age of women's handball, have taken charge as the leaders of each team. Additionally, Shim Jae-bok, who was active until recently, and 'Shooting Stars' ace Park Ha-yan, who holds a championship title from the Asian Women's Club League, have joined to complete the lineup of coaches.
Strategic Battle of Handball Legends
The legends, transformed from players into coaches, are expected to engage in a fierce battle of wits as they devise customized strategies for each team. In particular, 'Gyuminator' Park Jung-kyu, a former 'Asia's Number One Pivot,' will participate as a special commentator to increase the professional depth of the matches. The synergy between the 'Shooting Stars' players, who will showcase a charm different from soccer, and the handball legends is the key point to watch.
