The 41st episode of TV CHOSUN's 'Golden Friday,' airing October 16, will feature a "Legendary Singers of the Century" special, where performers compete with famous songs representing the legends of the Korean music industry, including Cho Yong-pil, Lee Mi-ja, Na Hoon-a, and Nam Jin.
On this episode, Oh Yu-jin and Cheon Rok-dam will engage in a head-to-head battle. Oh Yu-jin has chosen Hye Eun-yi's "The Third Hangang Bridge," a song that Cheon Rok-dam previously used to win a round in 'Mr. Trot 3'.
With her signature bright and refreshing tone, Oh Yu-jin evokes the heyday of Hye Eun-yi. Watching the performance, Cheon Rok-dam expressed admiration, stating, "It reminded me of Hye Eun-yi sunbae's image from those days." It remains to be seen if Oh Yu-jin can surpass Cheon Rok-dam's legendary stage and secure a victory with her own version of "The Third Hangang Bridge."
Cheon Rok-dam's choice to counter is equally formidable. His winning move is Cho Yong-pil's "Tragic Love." Drawing gasps from the audience starting from the very first line, Cheon Rok-dam delivers a passionate performance that leaves him drenched in sweat. Kim Yong-bin praised the performance, saying, "It is a song that fits him perfectly."
Meanwhile, the "Good" Son Bin-a aims for a perfect score of 100 by performing Bae Ho's "Returning to Samgakji." Son Bin-a expressed confidence, saying, "Bae Ho sunsaengnim's songs are my secret weapon," and adding, "I chose this song with the determination to definitely receive 100 points."
As the stage begins, Son Bin-a's heavy low notes fill the venue. MC Kim Sung-joo expressed amazement, noting, "The voice goes back and forth like an underground cave," while Yang Ji-eun also praised his wide vocal range and excellent song interpretation. Attention is focused on whether Son Bin-a, wielding his traditional trot secret weapon, can achieve his goal of 100 points.
TV CHOSUN's 'Golden Friday,' featuring the masterpiece battles of trot stars, airs tonight (the 16th) at 10 PM.
