The show’s 41st episode features a “Singing Legends of the Century” special, with contestants facing off in a trot death match featuring songs by Cho Yong-pil, Lee Mi-ja, Na Hoon-a and Nam Jin. Two mystery challengers will also enter the competition, including one who takes aim at Yang.
Yang, who holds the show’s Jin, or top-ranked, title, secured her eight golden stars in the previous broadcast after earning 100 points for a second consecutive week and succeeding in the “Wheel of Fate.” The upcoming performance also gives her a chance to extend that run to three straight perfect scores.
According to the episode preview, Yang arrives in a glamorous dress and reveals that she has already rehearsed her acceptance speech, drawing laughter before the contest begins. The preview presents her preparations as a sign of her determination to win the Golden Cup.
For her challenge, Yang chooses Ha Chun-hwa’s “Yeongam Arirang.” The preview highlights the song’s folk-style melody as an opportunity for Yang, who majored in traditional Korean music, to demonstrate her strengths.
