Yoo Hye-won Announces Criminal Complaint and Damages Claim Against Heart Signal 4's Kim Ji-min

Influencer Yoo Hye-won has announced a criminal complaint and a claim for damages against Kim Ji-min, a participant of Channel A's 'Heart Signal 4', regarding the spread of unverified information concerning her private life online.

On the 26th, Yoo Hye-won's legal representative, Daeryeon Law Firm, released an official statement stating that information regarding Yoo Hye-won's private life is being spread through anonymous SNS and online communities regardless of the party's wishes. Daeryeon Law Firm claimed that although the two individuals do not know each other, specific details regarding Yoo Hye-won's private sphere were mentioned in Kim Ji-min's SNS posts. Accordingly, they are closely reviewing the circumstances of the creation and distribution of the posts and plan to proceed with a criminal complaint and a claim for damages based on the results against Kim Ji-min.

Attorney Kim Bum-sik of Daeryeon Law Firm stated on the 27th that he filed a complaint against Kim Ji-min at the Gangnam Police Station for violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (Defamation). According to the released complaint, Kim Ji-min posted on her social media last June that Yoo Hye-won was receiving sponsorship from a famous singer and producer while dating a basketball player. Yoo Hye-won's side demanded strict punishment, claiming that Kim Ji-min defamed her by publicly stating false facts through the information and communications network.

Yoo Hye-won's side stated that they will request through the investigation to confirm when Kim Ji-min learned the contents, from whom, through what route, whether there was a basis to judge it as fact, and whether a fact-checking procedure was conducted before posting. However, they drew a line by stating that they are not currently concluding that an unverified third party, a specific online community, or an anonymous channel is the initial source of distribution. The legal representative added that the individual who operated the anonymous account is currently detained, and they will take measures to ensure that those who provided tips to this individual can be punished as accomplices by securing additional evidence.

Yoo Hye-won's side stated that they will not hold all users responsible simply for capturing or receiving the posts, but they will consider legal action against those who repost or reprocess unverified information as if it were fact, or engage in mockery, slander, or the spreading of additional false facts combined with the original content.
