YouTuber Park Wi Decides to Voluntarily Resign as Seoul City Ambassador Following KTX Video Controversy

Seoul City stated that Park Wi has conveyed his intention to resign and that they will proceed with the procedures according to regulations.

Park Wi was appointed as a Seoul City ambassador along with his wife Song Ji-eun in June last year, with a term of two years. However, it is reported that he decided to voluntarily resign in consideration of the recent controversy.

The controversy began when Park Wi released CCTV footage on his YouTube channel showing an accident that occurred while disembarking from a KTX. The video captured a situation where a wheelchair wheel got caught in the foot of a public service worker, causing a fall. Park Wi explained that the purpose was to raise awareness about safety issues for wheelchair users, but he faced criticism for releasing a video that included the identifiable appearance of a specific worker.

In response, as the controversy spread, Park Wi deleted the video and delivered an apology message stating that he lacked consideration for the worker. However, due to this incident, several events scheduled for Park Wi have been canceled, and the aftermath continues as his YouTube channel subscriber count has also decreased.
