Kim Ji-won stars as a defiant surgeon in new SBS medical noir

The medical noir drama 'Doctor X: Era of the White Mafia' premieres tonight at 9:50 PM, following the story of Kye Su-jeong. The genius surgeon is set to challenge the corruption of Guseo University Hospital by rebelling against the hospital director on her very first day of work.

The new SBS Friday-Saturday drama 'Doctor X: Era of the White Mafia' (produced by Studio S, Studio Dragon, and HighZium Studio) is set to air its first episode tonight (9th) at 9:50 PM.

The series is a "refreshing" medical noir depicting the activities of Kye Su-jeong (Kim Ji-won), known as the "crazy Kye of the operating room," a genius surgeon who uses her unparalleled skills to crush massive corruption without compromise or failure. As the first medical genre entry in the "SBS refreshing universe"—which has followed a successful lineage with hits such as 'Chief Kim', 'Taxi Driver', 'The Fiery Priest', and 'The Judge from Hell'—the drama has garnered intense interest due to the collaboration of director Lee Jeong-rim (who directed 'VIP', 'Revenant', and 'As You Stood By') and a powerful cast including Kim Ji-won (as Kye Su-jeong), Lee Jung-eun (as Jang Hui-suk), Son Hyun-joo (as Boo Seung-gwon), and Kim Woo-seok (as Park Tae-gyeong).

In anticipation of the premiere, 'Doctor X' has released stills of Kye Su-jeong rebelling against the doctors of Guseo University Hospital on her very first day of work. Kye Su-jeong is a mercenary doctor obsessed solely with surgery, acting as a "medical dark hero" who uses her god-like surgical skills to overturn the corruption within Guseo University Hospital.

In the released stills, Kye Su-jeong shows extraordinary spirit, staring straight ahead with a defiant posture amidst a crowd of doctors in a conference room. She is seen startlingly stepping up onto the podium in front of hundreds of doctors. Ignoring the sharp glares directed at her, she focuses entirely on a patient's chart. The tension and catharsis are heightened by the sharp contrast between Kye Su-jeong, who relentlessly points out flaws in the hospital director's explanations, and the director, who is infuriated by her.

Attention is focused on whether the mercenary doctor Kye Su-jeong, who shakes up the hospital director from her first day, will have a smooth hospital life, and how her actions will cause a massive wave in the world of the "white mafia."
