FlickArt Unveils 17 AI Short Films Through 2026 Summer Residency

On September 3, 2026, FlickArt, Inc. unveiled a collection of 17 original short films completed by participants of the 2026 Summer cohort of the Flick Filmmaker Residency. This project involved emerging creators in the field of AI filmmaking, as well as traditional entertainment industry professionals, including screenwriters from Disney and Emmy Award winners.

Residency Program Operation Method

Participants produced works across various genres, including sci-fi, animation, surrealism, drama, and experimental film. The completed short films can be viewed through Flick TV (flick.art/showroom), and upon completion of the program, participants join the Flick Residency alumni network.

Zoey Zhang, co-founder of Flick, emphasized that as generative AI technology advances, the decision-making capabilities of filmmakers become increasingly important. She explained that rather than technical tools, what a creator chooses and how they direct determines the true value of a film.

Meanwhile, works from the previous 2026 Spring cohort have proven the artistry of films made with AI tools by being selected as official entries at numerous international film festivals.
