K-Story Seminar Held in Gyeongju Bomun Complex… Dongin Law Firm to Provide Free IP Contract Consulting

The 'K-Story: Original IP Secondary Content Expansion Strategy Seminar' and '2-day 1-night Workshop,' hosted by the IP Content Convergence External Cooperation Department of the Korea Cartoon Story Association, were successfully held on September 2 in the Gyeongju Bomun Complex, which is gaining attention both domestically and internationally following the successful hosting of the APEC last year.

This seminar was attended by representative domestic webtoon writers such as story writer Oh Jong-pil (Jay Robin) of the recently popular OTT drama 'The Legend of Kitchen Soldier,' writer Kim Yang-su (Haecholling) of 'Local Lawyer Jo Deul-ho,' and writer Shin Jin-woo (story) of NAVER WEBTOON's 'Cleaner K' and 'Dokgeomi,' as well as web novel, webtoon, game, and video production officials, including representative first-generation fantasy novel writers like 'Adok's' Lee Kwang-seop and Wolmunseon of 'Necromancer of the Swordsmanship Family.'

The seminar was organized to strengthen the competitiveness of K-stories and seek ways for secondary content expansion (OSMU) in the rapidly changing global content market, amid the rising status of K-content on global OTT platforms.

In particular, the main sessions focused on response strategies tailored to the 'AI Transformation (AX) in the IP field,' which is a key topic across the industry recently. Participants agreed on the need for a paradigm shift centered on IP commercialization, moving away from the existing 'Creation-Protection-Utilization' structure to a 'Utilization-Protection-Creation' model. The analysis suggests that to lead the AI era, it is essential to promote AX in the private IP industry and secure infrastructure for original IPs.

Along with this, a legal protection system was established to support the stable commercialization and global expansion of original IPs. Dongin Law Firm, which sponsored this event, decided to provide 'Free IP Copyright Contract Consulting' services to create a fair contract environment for creators and IP companies, led by attorney Joo Chang-yeol, who has shown outstanding achievements in the field of copyright.
