MovieBloc to Host Exclusive Online Special Exhibition of Greek DISFF Short Films

International independent film platform MovieBloc (CEO Kim Kyung-ik) is holding an exclusive online special exhibition in partnership with the Drama International Short Film Festival (DISFF).

The special exhibition will take place on the official MovieBloc website for two weeks, from September 1 to 14. Four Greek short films, including Sundance Film Festival selections and DISFF award winners, will be released online.

Approaching its 49th edition in 2026, DISFF is considered a representative short film festival of Greece. Its international competition category is recognized for eligibility for submission to the U.S. Academy Awards and the European Film Awards, and it was recently selected as a festival eligible for submission to the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA).

The four screening works are 《Our Last Summer at Home》, 《My Everything is Nothing》, 《Phoebe》, and 《Gekas》. They cover themes such as parting with family, life after rehabilitation, and adolescent growth through different genres including drama and sci-fi.

《Our Last Summer at Home》 depicts the time of characters facing the death of a father and the upcoming sale of the family home; it won the Silver Award at the Athens International Film Festival and was invited to 14 film festivals. 《My Everything is Nothing》 is a work that explores emotions after a breakup through a sci-fi format and won the DISFF Special Effects Award.

《Phoebe》 is a road trip social drama depicting the journey of a protagonist discharged from a rehabilitation center; it was selected as an official screening at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and won the Best Short Film award at the Barcelona Greece & Cyprus Film Festival. 《Gekas》 captures the growth process of a boy and won three awards at the 2024 DISFF National Competition, including Best Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Cinematography.

DISFF stated, “The four works being screened this time demonstrate the diverse perspectives and creativity inherent in Greek cinema,” and added, “We hope this serves as an opportunity to newly discover Greek short films through works that have garnered attention at various film festivals around the world.”
