Short-form drama platform NetShort introduced its strategies for original content production, the use of artificial intelligence (AI), and overseas distribution at MIPCOM held in Cannes, France, on October 20, 2026. NetShort stated it will expand international partnerships to connect creators and stories with global viewers.
NetShort explained that it provides content in more than 17 languages across more than 170 countries, serving millions of viewers every day. North America is its largest market, and the company is also operating in Europe, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Content development utilizes an in-house script and production team, external creative partners, and viewer data. This method involves identifying information regarding story progression, characters, and emotional satisfaction elements based on viewer responses, which is then reflected in the development of subsequent works. NetShort explained that data serves to support creation rather than replacing the judgment of creators.
The company's internally developed AI agent platform supports story development using AI and the production of AI-generated works. Currently used by the in-house creative team, NetShort plans to provide these tools to external creators and production partners within the coming months. This reflects a trend where platform competition is expanding beyond content distribution to include production tools and creator support, though the specific scope and method of external provision have not been disclosed.
NetShort stated it distributes content overseas based on regional viewer analysis and localization strategies, applying revenue models that include in-app purchases and advertising. The company is also seeking cooperation to produce original short-form dramas, adapt intellectual property (IP), and deliver region-based stories to international viewers.
