The revised Performance Act to eradicate scalping went into effect on August 28. This amendment significantly expands the scope of regulations, which were previously limited to purchases using macros, to prohibit both 'fraudulent purchasing,' which interferes with the fair reservation process for the purpose of resale, and 'fraudulent selling,' which involves habitually reselling tickets with an added premium without the original seller's consent.
Violators may be punished with up to one year in prison or a fine of up to 10 million won, and a surcharge of up to 50 times the sale amount may be imposed. Additionally, a system has been introduced where whistleblowers for fraudulent purchasing can receive up to 50 million won, and whistleblowers for fraudulent selling can receive a reward within 50% of the surcharge. Suspected cases of scalping can be reported along with relevant evidentiary materials through the 'Integrated Reporting Website for Performance and Sports Scalping.'
