RIIZE shifts to acoustic pop with new single Insomnia

RIIZE released the acoustic pop single "Insomnia" on the 26th of last month, marking the group's first focus on vocals over performance. The track has already achieved "Double Gold" certification on China's QQ Music and serves as a prologue for a second full-length album scheduled for spring 2027.

The group RIIZE has set the tone for their upcoming second full-length album with the release of their new single, "Insomnia."

According to their agency, RIIZE released "Insomnia" on the 26th of last month.

The track is an acoustic pop song featuring lyrical guitar playing. It expresses the complex emotions and thoughts of a person that become clearer as the night deepens, conveyed through the calm yet sorrowful vocals of the six members.

While their previous title tracks focused heavily on performance, this release concentrates on the members' vocal colors and harmonies, filling the song with vocals alone.

This marks the first time RIIZE has placed acoustic pop at the forefront. As a team that promotes the unique genre of "emotional pop," they captured various emotions felt during the process of growth in this song. To emphasize the calm sentiment, the members finely adjusted their vocalization, tone, and intonation, while also putting significant effort into harmonies to ensure their voices blended naturally.

SHOTARO stated through the agency, "I remember asking to hear it again several times because it was so good as soon as I heard it. It is a song with an atmosphere RIIZE hasn't done before, and since we had to show ourselves through vocals rather than performance this time, we agonized over how to convey emotions with our own unique color." SOHEE added, "It is a song where RIIZE's vocals stand out the most, a song that people will immediately think of when they think of RIIZE's vocals. I hope it is remembered not only by BRIIZE but also by much of the public."

Since its release, RIIZE has performed live stages on 1theK's "Record Delivery" on YouTube, as well as on KBS 2TV's "Music Bank," MBC's "Show! Music Core," and SBS's "Inkigayo." The digital performance has also been strong. The song recorded number one on the Melon Global K-Chart for seven consecutive days and also took the weekly number one spot. On China's QQ Music, it received "Double Gold" certification after exceeding 500,000 yuan in digital music sales, and it reached number one in seven regions on the iTunes Top Songs chart.

In January 2024, RIIZE released the winter song "Love 119," which reached a peak of number three on the Melon TOP100 and surpassed 100 million cumulative streams on Spotify. This past summer, they released "Do your dance," which combined hip-hop beats with electronic pop sounds. "Insomnia" also serves as the prologue single for the second full-length album scheduled for release in the spring of 2027.
