‘2026 Korea University Theater Major Admissions Information Concert’ to be held on the 29th with 33 Universities Participating Nationwide

An admissions information fair for prospective students preparing to enter the performing arts fields, such as theater and musicals, will be held on the 29th. The ‘2026 Korea University Theater Major Admissions Information Concert,’ jointly hosted by the Korean Council of University Theater Professors and the Young Theater Festival Executive Committee, will take place at the Sungkyunkwan University Business Building Small Theater.
Now in its third year, this event is designed as a venue where faculty members from theater and performance-related majors from 33 universities nationwide directly meet prospective students and parents. It includes a wide range of participants, from universities in the metropolitan area to regional universities, and involves universities belonging to the Korean Council for University Education and the Korean Council for Professional College Education.
A notable change in this year's event is the scheduling of the Q&A sessions. Previously, there were criticisms that students could not ask enough questions because the sessions were divided into three sections of 10 universities each; this time, it has been adjusted to four sections of 7 to 8 universities each to ensure sufficient Q&A time for each university. Topics that prospective students are actually curious about, such as practical exams, acting, special talents, on-the-spot lines, appearance and image, and grades, will be covered. For prospective students who have relied on fragmented admissions information, this seems to be a significant opportunity to directly verify verified information.
Booths for each participating university will also be operated at the entrance of the space where the talk concert is held. Prospective students can visit the booths to receive one-on-one counseling and obtain information such as the ideal talent profiles and curricula of each university.
Kim Hyun-hee, President of the Korean Council of University Theater Professors (Department of Acting Arts at Sungkyunkwan University), said, “The core of this event is to help students dreaming of becoming future artists escape fragmented information and design the right career path based on verified admissions information. As it is a place where major universities nationwide gather, it will be a meaningful opportunity for students preparing for theater major admissions.”
Kim Jung-geun, Chairperson of the Young Theater Festival Executive Committee (Department of Acting Arts at Daekyung University), stated, “It has become important for prospective students to find educational curricula that match their aptitudes and goals. We hope this admissions information concert serves as a practical compass for aspiring artists to clearly understand the essence of the practical evaluations pursued by each university and to establish their admissions strategies.”
Meanwhile, the Young Theater Festival is a university theater festival that has continued for 34 years since it began in 1993, with approximately 1,500 students from about 50 universities nationwide participating and performing every year.
