The animation 'Baby Shark Christmas Special: Santa Selection Contest' will debut in CGV on December 5, featuring seven new songs and a confrontation between Baby Shark and a masked rival known as Thief Baby Shark.
According to media reports, Pinkfong Baby Shark, which has recorded 17.4 billion cumulative views on YouTube, is returning as a Christmas theatrical film. Ahead of its December 5 release in CGV, the animation 'Baby Shark Christmas Special: Santa Selection Contest' has released a teaser poster and the first set of stills.
The work depicts an underwater selection contest to choose a new Santa after the original Santa Claus gets injured. Undersea friends, including Baby Shark and his best friend William, take on extraordinary missions during the contest.
Produced in a "Sing & Dance Along" format where viewers can enjoy singing and dancing together, the film features seven new songs. Baby Shark Boy, who appeared in Baby Shark gymnastics videos, makes a surprise appearance as the host of the event. The film is designed to allow the audience to feel as though they are participating in a Christmas party by singing and dancing along with the characters.
Thief Baby Shark, who bears a resemblance to Baby Shark but wears a black mask, also appears as a new rival. The confrontation between the two sharks is presented as a major highlight of the work.
The teaser poster depicts Baby Shark and William appearing from a gift box while wearing Santa hats, set against a backdrop of Christmas wreaths and gift decorations. The six first stills capture underwater landscapes glowing with aurorae, various characters, and scenes from the Santa selection contest. In conjunction with the release, a limited edition 'Santa Baby Shark Plush Keyring' is scheduled to be sold.
